DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN - Is Elodie Yung Hinting At Her Return As Elektra?

Elodie Yung, who played Elektra in Netflix's Daredevil series, has shared some throwback Instagram photos that have led to speculation that she might be set to return as the character for Born Again.

Elodie Yung played Elektra Natchios in season 2 of Netflix's defunct Daredevil series, before returning for The Defenders. Though her take on the lethal assassin was well-received by fans, many felt her arc was mishandled, and that Yung wasn't really given a proper chance to shine in the role.

Several main cast members from the Netflix show are set to return for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, but will Yung be among them?

There have been rumors that the G.I. Joe: Retaliation actress might be set to reprise the role of Elektra, but with production underway for quite a while, we'd assume it'd be something the trades would have got wind of by now. However, Yung has now shared a couple of throwback photos to Instagram that have sent speculation into overdrive.

This is obviously far from confirmation that she'll be back, and, to be honest, we'd say people are reading a bit too much into Yung being nostalgic about her time playing Elektra. Then again, reports of Jon Bernthal's return as the Punisher were dismissed as unsubstantiated rumors before the trades made it official, so you never know.

Born Again will also see Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) reprise their respective roles from the Netflix Daredevil series, along with new cast members Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Sandrine Holt. We recently learned that Holt will play The Kingpin's wife, Vanessa Fisk, while James is rumored to be playing assistant DA Kristen McDuffie.

The show will be loosely based on the '80s Marvel Comics series of the same name by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli, but is not expected to be an overly faithful adaptation. Despite some significant changes to the story, "Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point."

No premiere date has been announced, but it is expected to his Disney+ at some point next year (although the show did recently halt production for the duration of the WGA strike, so a delay is possible).

I hope so. She was great as the charactr but was disserviced by the conclusion to her story in Season2 and by whatever they did in Defenders.

I hope she comes back. I really liked her version of the character, but she was definitely mishandled, especially in Defenders, which seemed like it was written in a day.

Karen, Foggy, & Elektra from Netflix should all be brought back because they were great in the roles.

At least Elektra has a chance since she's not white.

She was part of why DDS2 was subpar and not art of why Defenders sucked. But it’s all in the writing, I think she did fine.

They need to just give a straight answer if the Netflix shows are Canon. Ffs, they even included the f@#$ing cufflinks.
StSteven

@Origame - Yeah, I feel ya dude. One way or the other, I would like some kind of clear definition as to what outside of the MCU is and isn't canon. I'm good with pretty much any explanation. If everything in the Fox-verse, Sony-verse, and Marvel TV-verse are considered canon but are their own universes within the MCU multiverse parallel to the MCU universe, then that makes the most sense to me.

Then the whole point of the Multiverse Saga (aside from introducing new characters and advancing previous plot lines) is ostensibly to rectify all these different continuities, and presumably when we come out of the other side of it, whatever remains is essentially the new MCU "Sacred Timeline" and anything else is non-canon and no longer matters (and presumably won't be addressed in the MCu in the future). It's basically like Feige cleaning out his garage for like 5 years.

At least that's how I'm hoping it will end up. And if that's the case it makes sense why they decided to do the MS after the IS, based on the timing of getting all these properties back. But, like you said, I would like a more definitive answer to "What's canon and what's not?" other than "Wait and see" but I guess for now we'll just have to, well, wait and see.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 6/18/2023, 3:55 AM
@Origame - seeing how everything is part of the multiverse today, it's definitely canon in some way. Just doubt any if the Netflix or Marvel TV shows are canon to the MCU Earth-199999 reality
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2023, 8:18 AM
@bkmeijer1 - that multiverse Canon loophole is just bs corporate speak to get whatever they want "canon" even though they aren't actually gonna affect anything in the main universe.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 6/18/2023, 12:50 PM
@Origame - true. It's the perfect excuse. One of the reasons I don't mind it if the Multiverse-era is over

Pathetic.
Another washed out cow coming back to get money from Disney's Pedo cow train these days.

Hosting people like her only shows how desperate they are.

Oh I do hope so, she was absolutely brilliant in this roll. Watching play the character you really got a sense of how crazy and volatile she really was. It’s not often you actually get this sensation, superb.
