Elodie Yung played Elektra Natchios in season 2 of Netflix's defunct Daredevil series, before returning for The Defenders. Though her take on the lethal assassin was well-received by fans, many felt her arc was mishandled, and that Yung wasn't really given a proper chance to shine in the role.
Several main cast members from the Netflix show are set to return for Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again, but will Yung be among them?
There have been rumors that the G.I. Joe: Retaliation actress might be set to reprise the role of Elektra, but with production underway for quite a while, we'd assume it'd be something the trades would have got wind of by now. However, Yung has now shared a couple of throwback photos to Instagram that have sent speculation into overdrive.
This is obviously far from confirmation that she'll be back, and, to be honest, we'd say people are reading a bit too much into Yung being nostalgic about her time playing Elektra. Then again, reports of Jon Bernthal's return as the Punisher were dismissed as unsubstantiated rumors before the trades made it official, so you never know.
Born Again will also see Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock) and Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) reprise their respective roles from the Netflix Daredevil series, along with new cast members Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Sandrine Holt. We recently learned that Holt will play The Kingpin's wife, Vanessa Fisk, while James is rumored to be playing assistant DA Kristen McDuffie.
The show will be loosely based on the '80s Marvel Comics series of the same name by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli, but is not expected to be an overly faithful adaptation. Despite some significant changes to the story, "Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point."
No premiere date has been announced, but it is expected to his Disney+ at some point next year (although the show did recently halt production for the duration of the WGA strike, so a delay is possible).
