Is Crossbones Actor Frank Grillo Teasing A Jump From The MCU To DC Studios?

Barring multiverse shenanigans, Frank Grillo's time in the MCU as Crossbones appears to be done. However, is the action star preparing to team up with James Gunn and DC Studios?

Over on his Instagram Story, Frank Grillo is potentially teasing involvement in the DC Studios cinematic universe reboot. With the DC Comics logo as a backdrop, Frank Grillo wrote, "The only constant in life is change...Something's coming." As Instagram Stories only last 24 hours, we've included a screenshot for after the post disappears.

Previously, Grillo made it known that he was unhappy with the direction the MCU took his Crossbones character. In a 2021 interview, Grillo shared, "The trajectory of Crossbones took a turn and he was out of the series really quickly, right? And I was a little pissed off about it."

This of course is in reference to the fact that Crossbones' major moment in Marvel Comics is the assassination of Captain America Steve Rogers, during the aftermath of the 2006-07 Civil War comic book event. Obviously, the MCU chose to "retire" Steve Rogers in a completely different fashion.

Grillo did briefly return to the MCU to voice Crossbones in the animated What If...? Disney+ series but it looks as if Grillo might be ready to jump ship to the competition.

Currently, the DC Studios project that appears to be furthest along is the animated Creature Commandos series, so perhaps Grillo will portray one of those characters?
