Disney Officially Confirms A Summer 2019 Release Date For TOY STORY 4
Disney wants you to "reach for the post-it" with a brand new teaser image for Toy Story 4. The company also confirmed a June 21, 2019 release date for the next installment in Pixar's successful franchise.
Although Toy Story 3 seemingly wrapped a nice little bow on the beloved Pixar franchise, Disney isn't ready to say goodbye to Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang just yet. We've known for a while now that Toy Story 4 was on the way, and Disney has now confirmed its release date: June 21, 2019.
This date had been floated around by Pixar previously, but the Toy Story Facebook page made it official with a teaser image.
Despite the overwhelming popularity and success of the franchise, Toy Story 4 hasn't had the smoothest of starts, mostly due to shake-ups with its scriptwriters. Rashida Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack were originally penning the script, but they departed from the project due to "creative and philosophical differences" with the studio. Pixar replaced them with Stephany Folsom, who actually worked on Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok.
Not much is known about the story of Toy Story 4, especially given the writing drama, but it was originally pitched as a romantic comedy/love story with Woody and Bo Peep. Most fans seem to be content with the heartwarming ending of Toy Story 3 with Andy passing on the toys to Bonnie, but it's understandable why Disney and Pixar wouldn't want to end one of their most successful franchises.
