Back in 2014, Maleficent made a massive $758.5 million at the worldwide box office, so a sequel was always highly likely. Now, Disney has released the first poster for the follow-up and it confirms that it will be titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Angelina Jolie returns as the titular character, while Elle Fanning will also be back as Princess Aurora. Harris Dickinson (who replaces Brenton Thwaites) is taking on the role of Prince Phillip, while Michelle Pfeiffer and Chiwetel Ejiofor have also joined the cast for a tale many fans believe could complete Maleficent's villainous transformation.
"Maleficent 2 continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen," reads the synopsis, "as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within."
Originally set for release on May 29th, 2020, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil has now been bumped up to October 18th, 2019 instead!
