Few months back a rumor surfaced about introducing Dr Strange in Thor’s sequel. While the rumor was neither confirmed nor debunked, the news said that he’ll be working alongside Jane foster on a secret mission of his own. So what could be this secret mission?

I think this secret mission might be related to the dark magic that Odin used to send Thor back on Midgard during Avengers. So what if in his absence Asgard was attacked by Thanos or Elves to steal Infinity Gauntlet from the same chamber where Eye of Agamotto was kept. If other items along with the Gauntlet were stolen so Dr Strange could be on a secret mission of working with Jane Foster to reach Asgard and get Eye of Agamotto back.

One more reason could be that The Other who is part of the movie and is speculated as Ch’thon is always connected to Dr Strange so his involvement with Thanos’ plan could be the reason he is figure out.

I don’t want a Dr Strange backstory in Thor 2 but it would be cool if he makes a cameo and saving story for a movie in MCU Phase 2. What do you think?

Benedict Cumberbatch, FTW!

IDK about the rumours, but IMO Doc Strange needs to have his background and origins explained, so for him to suddenly appear out of nowhere in Thor 2 might seem a little contrived. He needs a solo movie. However, I do think there is already plenty going on in Thor 2, so if I was betting on it, I would say it's doubtful that Doc Strange would appear. At least not with magic anyway. Perhaps as a normal doctor/surgeon before he finds magic?

In The Avengers Loki said that Odin used "Dark Energy" to send Thor back to Earth, not dark magic. "With the Bifrost gone, how much dark energy did the Allfather have to muster to conjure you here, your precious Earth?" People keep misquoting that line to support the idea of magic being used in the MCU.

Perhaps. I'd still like an origin movie for him. After Avengers 2, they need to start another franchise like Avengers. The Defenders! Dr. Strange could kick start that. Oh and Marvel. Don't make Dr. Strange an Avenger.

@RedSkull667 I COMPLETELY agree with you "I don’t want a Dr Strange backstory in Thor 2 but it would be cool if he makes a cameo and saving story for a movie in MCU Phase 2." Look people, MARVEL movies have been good for the fans, and I think that's their magic. It's for US, and it's for the general public to catch up. So far, they've been willing to do this, and I think a Dr. Strange cameo with no story would work because it'd give the general pub a reason to want to know who he is and where he's from. Make it cool, keep it consistent, and the money will flow. My two cents...

I've been sayin' it & sayin' it for over a year now that the DEFENDERS would be a wise next move for Marvel Studios... I completely agree with "superotherside!" You can bring back Hulk, get Namor, and finally give Dr. Strange his due, along with maybe Valkyrie, Hellcat, and Nighthawk? Nice... give Doc Strange, Hulk, and Namor their own flicks to setup the teamup... it could be very different from Avengers, but just as epic....

Technically, the image you posted is not the Eye of Agamotto but the Orb of Agamotto. The Orb of Agamatto is related to Dr. Strange, but the Eye of Agamotto was not in Odin's vault in the film. The Warlock's Eye was the "eye" artifact in the vault.

I would rather leave Dr. Strange out of the mix for now. Solo film and possible Phase 3 tie-in to the Avengers would be cool though.

Doctor Strange is going to be one of Phase 3's solo offerings for new characters. Jon Hamm is being openly spoken of as Strange.

I also happen to know a bit about the script. It is a very interesting take on the character and the story almost takes a page from Joe Johnston's Captain America in that it has a very "high adventure" feel to it.

But, because it is a Phase 3 movie, casting is being held back due to aging of the potential castings, taking account of any sequels and the years down the line etc.

Yes, I happen to have inside information on this movie.

Strange to kick off a parallel mcu leading to a defenders movie, then in avengers 3 they are called in to help defeat thanos, Kang, or ultron in a movie to end all movies! Yes!!

Great ideas. And yes, Benedict Cumberbatch FTW.

And Luke Evans should be cool, too - I'm really liking him as an actor - although I'd rather see him as a future replacement of Tony Stark, when Robert Downey, Jr. has ended his contract.

@Jolt17, I see you have Joaquin Phoenix's name on the poster. Which character would that have him being?

scruffylookingnerfherder: I believe I took most of the actors listed in the credits block from one Fan Cast of this site (sans Benedict Cumberbatch, who has always been my personal favorite, and Sung Kang), and as far as I remember, he's picked to be Baron Mordo, which I think could very well be an interesting idea. :)

Benedict cumberbatch? Nah. We need to have someone a bit older than that. I was thinking Timothy Dalton as he has the right look and i would say is the spitting image of Dr Strange, but he might be too old to play him.
