Hmmm. Daniel Day-Lewis, I wonder if he's interested. He was great in There Will Be Blood.

Doctor Stephen Strange is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was co-created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963).Doctor Strange was originally Dr. Stephen Strange, a world-renowned but selfish neurosurgeon who only cared about making money. Then a car accident damaged his hands, preventing him from practicing surgery. Depressed and scouring the world for a cure to his condition, Strange locates a hermit called the Ancient One in the Himalayas. The Ancient One refuses to help Strange because of his selfishness, but does sense a good side to Strange which he attempts to bring to the surface. He fails, but Strange's goodness ignites when he discovers the Ancient One's disciple, Baron Mordo, is attempting to kill him. After Strange selflessly attempts to thwart the Ancient One's traitorous disciple, Baron Mordo (who would become one of Strange's most enduring antagonists), he is taught the mystic arts.[5]

He's not gonna get picked, but then again, the person I want to get picked won't be either. Colin O'Donoghue.

Daniel Day Lewis is amazing. The Crucible, for the win.

Ddl would own ANY role. He's *probably* the greatest living actor. And, as has been pointed out already, he was most definitely NOT in No Country For Old Men.

haha, reference fail.

Daniel Day Lewis is an incredible actor though. Gangs of New York, Last of the Mohicans, He's also portraying Abe Lincoln. He might just be too good for this role. Plus he is fairly old. Once again I say go for a lesser known.

Just saw Dempsey in Transformers 3, he was a complete douche in the film. But I think it would be cool to see him as Doc Strange. Now, Daniel Day Lewis on the other hand would be EPIC. But I dont think neither DC or Marvel could afford him.

croniccris@ - Daniel Day-Lewis is an ENGLISH actor with dual English/Irish citizenship.

And I think Dempsey, even though he probably has a snowball's chance in Hell of getting the part, at least knows the character and understands the journey the character has to take at the beginning of his adventures.

Alright Depp might be perfect for the roll. that picture says it all. oh and maybe that'll help him stop making pirate movies.

I don't care what anyone says Johnny Depp is my Doctor Strange and I am going to be pissed if anyone but him gets picked. Don't give me that crap about him being to odd because we have seen him tone it down quite a few times and make normal movies.

James Caviezel, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Michael Fassbender, Rufus Sewell or Joseph Fiennes would be cool!

As long as its not Dempsey! Dont dig about that guy at all!
But he might win me on his side if he gets the role and can pull it off?!

usclerkguy - 6/29/2011, 6:30 PM
Any of the following in no particular order... Patrick Dempsey, Collin Farrell, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Depp, Joseph Fienes, Daniel Day Lewis.

Robert Downey Jr. would be perfect if he weren't already Stark!

l0rdleg0las - 6/29/2011, 6:40 PM
i really don't think Dr Strange would be a good character to drop 150+ million on an adaptation of. i can see it being a special effects laden bomb. think a Marvel made movie like Green Lantern.

not all comic characters are deserving of movie adaptations and i list Dr Strange in that group.
JatevinM
JatevinM - 6/29/2011, 6:46 PM
l0rdleg0las@ It would not need all the special affects of the Green Lantern. Maybe the effects of Harry Potter on steroids a bit but other than that I can see Dr. Strange being a very good title to bring to the big screen. Especially if they have Depp as Dr. Strange and a great director. People line up to see movies just because Depp is in it weather the movie is bad or not.

I second patriautism'a choice - Rufus Sewell IS Doctor Strange!!!

No, no, no, no, HELL NO to Johnny Depp! He's TOTALLY not the actor for the part (regardless of what your nether-regions are telling you JatevinM!)!

...and Intruder, not so long ago there was an actor who was (in)famous for doing quirky roles in a LOT of less-than-commercially successful films (in fact, he prided himself on that fact). Then a studio approached him to do a film based on an amusement park ride and now he's the one of the hottest Hollywood properties around. Who is this wunderkind? Your number 1 choice for Doctor Strange - Johnny Depp, and the movie that launched him was 'Pirates of the Carribean' (based on the Disney ride). So don't be so quick to write-off Sewell - he's got the talent (in spades, and a helluva a lot more I wager than Depp), all he needs is the right vehicle to be the next 'it' guy!

Johnny Depp was paid 55 million for pirates 4. Thor had a budget of 150 million.

Is there enough $$ in a Dr. Strange film to hire Depp?
