As we know, there is already a Dr Strange movie in the works with a screenplay by Conan duo Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. Although no director has been announced, we have been led to believe that Marvel have a shortlist. So the following excerpt from Spinoffonline's article on the NYCC Venture Bros panel which has a very confident sounding Doc Hammer express his passion and interest in the movie probably won't get him the gig. Still, there are always sequels!
Hammer’s dream gig would be to write a Doctor Strange movie, and said he was offended when he wasn’t contacted by Marvel to help write the screenplay making the rounds.
“I’ve got notebooks and notebooks of stuff on Doctor Strange,” he said. “I’ve been making that pitch since I was 8 years old. I can walk into a room and go ‘Are you ready for the greatest Doctor Strange movie ever made?’ and they’ll go ‘We’ve never even made a Doctor Strange movie.”
“You could have watched it seven times and every single time it would of been a different movie,” Hammer added. “It [would have been] the Mad Libs of film.”
If he is that passionate about it I would be very interested in having a read of some of his notebooks. How do you guys think a Hammer penned
Dr Strange movie would turn out? As I already mentioned, a shortlist of directors for this project is apparently going to be announced before too long so keep an eye on CBM for any Strange related updates.
