Doctor Strange was a success for Marvel Studios and there's a huge amount of excitement surrounding the sequel,
In the Multiverse of Madness. That's still a couple of years away, but for now we have an alternate ending for the Sorcerer Supreme's origin story.
There's nothing necessarily groundbreaking here as much of the scene revolves around a humorous exchange between Stephen Strange and Wong. However, Mordo gets a mention and it doesn't sound like either of them are overly concerned about the fact that he's disappeared. The final few seconds are the same as the theatrical cut, as Strange looks down at his hands and broken watch.
The key difference here is that there's no mention of the Infinity Stones, so perhaps the reason this sequence was scrapped is because Marvel Studios decided to add that detail in order to tie this movie into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe and the events of
Avengers: Infinity War.
