ETERNALS Writer Believes There's "No Way You Can Do" A Sequel Without Thanos - SPOILERS

Thanos may be no more, but Eternals writer Kaz Firpo doesn't see how a sequel to Chloe Zhao's divisive superhero epic would work without at least touching on Josh Brolin's Mad Titan in some way.

Thanos is only briefly mentioned in Eternals when Ajak (Salma Hayek) brings up "The Blip," but a character shows up in the mid-credits scene who pretty much ensures that future references to The Mad Titan will be unavoidable.

When Eros, aka Starfox (Harry Styles), makes his grand entrance, he is introduced as the brother of Thanos, and it doesn't sound like that was a throwaway acknowledgement by any means.

A sequel has yet to be greenlit, but if Marvel Studios does decide to revisit these immortal heroes and develop Eros to any significant degree, it sounds like Thanos may also have a part to play - despite being killed off (twice) in Avengers: Endgame.

“I believe that there is no way that you can do Eternals 2 and 3 without somehow touching on Mr. Brolin," co-writer Kaz Firpo tells The Direct.

We assume he means Mr. Thanos, and not the actor that plays him!

While this is far from confirmation that Thanos will actually appear in future films, it does sound like the character is going to be revisited in some capacity down the line. Flashbacks are a possibility, but with the Multiverse set to become a major component of the MCU, Marvel Studios might decide to properly reintroduce the all-powerful villain at some point.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Thanos return to the MCU, or has the Mad Titan had his day? Drop us a comment down below.

@TheWalkingCuban - I think he’s supposed to appear in Doc Strange as a variant Tony Stark. It’s just supposed to be a cameo, nothing significant.

I remember when it was said that a young Thanos was supposed to be in The Eternals. I guess the bottom fell out of that.

@Twenty23Three - I guess so. I didn’t like what they did with what if concerning Thanos. Now if I’m wrong about it being the biggest movie saga of all time then I’d like to see what is. But concerning taking it too seriously, sure, I suppose I am. I’m not here to do my taxes baybeh, I’m here to waste time talking about comic book movies

Honestly, I’m relieved that they clarified Thanos’s position as an eternal. After Infinity War, I got the impression that MCU Titan was a different world with a species that all resembled the likeness of Thanos. But now with Starfox in the picture, it changes things. It even opens the door to A’Lars and (I still have hope) the true origins of Drax.
