JOE MANGANIELLO would be excellent for both the traditional PUNISHER for
MARVEL/DISNEY and the traditional BATMAN for DC/WARNERS. I got to
thinking who would be good for the supporting casts for these characters
thus I figured I'd do this “TANDEM-CAST” for both characters starring JOE
MANGANIELLO.
JOE has mentioned he'd like to play THE PUNISHER and I personally think he
would also be ideal for the BATMAN reboot too, the traditional Batman from
the mainstream comics. I think that the traditional forms of these characters
is what is needed so they fit into the regular MARVEL & DC Universes and can
play in the superhero world's they began in.
I want to see PUNISHER interacting with the rest of the MARVEL superheroes and
BATMAN with the DC superheroes. Now that MARVEL has the PUNISHER back he
needs to be brought into the fold and likewise with BATMAN so he can eventually
be in a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.
NOLAN has said his “DARK KNIGHT” is a stand-alone BATMAN and ZACK SNYDER
has also said his SUPERMAN movie is a stand-alone. I want to see CLARK & BRUCE
back in their regular worlds where they're supposed to be, where they can play
along side their superhero brethren. And likewise PUNISHER needs to play with
his super-buddies too.
These are superheroes for crying out loud, not overly realistic and out of the
superhero environment! There needs to be realism but also an overlying sci-fi
sense to the characters, like RAIMI'S SPIDERMAN movies, like IRON-MAN and CAP
AMERICA.
Both PUNISHER & BATMAN have quite similar stories that led them to becoming
high-tech, highly-trained vigilantes. Their families were murdered right before
their eyes by evil criminals which warped them a bit and transformed these
ordinary men into extremely-obsessed vigilantes.
Another thing, about THE JOKER, HEATH'S JOKER was all right for THE DARK
KNIGHT, the telling of the “YEAR ONE storyline, which it is. But the REAL JOKER
is a SUPER-VILLAIN! Oh, yes, he's a psycho-killer but he is so much more than
that! There is no way that NOLAN'S JOKER fits in the SUPERHERO world. He has
“TOO”MUCH REALISM! Actually there's no way that the DARK KNIGHT'S theme even
fits with SUPERHEROES. SUPERHEROES are SCI-FI, SCIENCE FICTION!
JACK NICHOLSON was the EPITOME of THE JOKER! His joker just needs the
CAMPINESS ripped right out of it and replaced with realism! An amalgam of
JACK'S & HEATH'S JOKERS would be the IDEAL! BATMAN needs the realism of BATMAN
BEGINS but also it's more superhero-like themes. I think BATMAN BEGINS is the
blue print to follow. I liked it way better than THE DARK KNIGHT, actually. The
JOKER is so much more than just the bank-robbing, machine gun blasting, mobster
he was in TDK. He's a super-villain with futuristic high-tech weapons at his
call. THE JOKER is a great deal more like LIAM NEESON'S RHAS AL GHUL in BATMAN
BEGINS. He's older than BRUCE WAYNE, not the young, PUNKISH, anarchist that
HEATH so amazingly played. He's always been older than BRUCE, even from the
beginning.
THE BATMOBILE:
I took this picture of the LAMBORGHINI ANKONIAN and modified it into the
BATMOBILE by erasing the LAMBO LOGO and painting bat-ears on the front hood. I
think it came out looking pretty nifty! I just want a hot-looking, sports-type,
street car back for THE BATMOBILE! The tumbler is just plain ugly! BATMAN is
more classy than that.
THE PUNISHER:
THE STORY has THE PUNISHER (in flashback) knocking WILLIAM “BILLY THE
BEAUT” RUSSO through the plate-glass window and shredding his face. Then it cuts
to the present, where JIGSAW goes to work for THE KINGPIN as his main-man.
JAIGSAW hires MAGINTY and the RUSSIAN to take THE PUNISHER out! Along
with KINGPIN'S men it's WAR-IN-THE-STREETS between FRANK and JIGSAW,
MAGINTY & the RUSSIAN and of course KINGPIN. FBI Agent KATHRYN O'BRIEN
and DETECTIVE SOAP come into the mix, as well.
BATMAN:
THE STORY has BATMAN pitted against the organized crime group that THE JOKER
pulls together, after his bad-experience with the chemicals that turn his face
white and drive him completely mad (Not that he wasn't already quite a bit off
the rail!), with him at the top, along with THE PENGUIN and RUPERT THORNE.
HARVEY DENT gets the acid thrown on the side of his face. He has a
psychotic-break and becomes the coin-flipping TWO-FACE, a mad-man crime-boss
who's a complete loose-cannon amidst the proceedings.
BATMAN comes upon CATWOMAN in the night during the perpetration of a skyscraper
cat bandit heist. She escapes BATMAN'S grasp and is thrown into the mix here as
well. Investigative reporter VICKI VALE becomes BRUCE WAYNE'S love interest but
there is also something between he and SELINA KYLE. The natural sparks of
jealousy would be flying between these two powerful women. CAT-FIGHT anyone?
So, to bring FRANK CASTLE & BRUCE WAYNE back to the SUPERHERO FOLD I
give you JOE MANGANIELLO as the traditional.....“superhero” PUNISHER and
“superhero” BATMAN.
THE PUNISHER:
JOE MANGANIELLO: ONE TREE HILL, TRUE BLOOD (TV)
THE PUNISHER (FRANK CASTLE/CASTIGLIONE): JOE MANGANIELLO- 6'5”
DANNY McBRIDE is a talented writer and a wonderful actor. He would excel as
FRANK CASTLE'S tech-guy and his hearty humor would be great for comic relief in
this for-the-most-part extremely intense and serious movie.
DANNY McBRIDE: PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, YOUR HIGHNESS, KUNG FU PANDA 2,
MICROCHIP (DAVID LINUS LIEBERMAN): DANNY McBRIDE
JAKE WEBER is great as a put-upon guy in a lot of movies and TV shows. He would
be fantastic as the detective who is unfortunately tasked with THE PUNISHER TASK
FORCE and then becomes FRANK'S friend and connection on the police force, put
in between a ROCK & a HARD PLACE, THE PUNISHER & THE POLICE.
JAKE WEBER: DAWN OF THE DEAD (FILM), MEDIUM (TV)
DETECTIVE MARTIN SOAP: JAKE WEBER
JESSICA has a beautiful yet tough persona that would fit this tough-girl love-
interest of FRANK CASTLE.
JESSICA BIEL: THE ILLUSIONIST, THE A-TEAM (FILM), 7TH HEAVEN (TV)
KATHRYN O'BRIEN: JESSICA BIEL
THE BAD GUYS:
VINCENT D'ONOFRIO is big & tall and extremely intense. I can't remember who
picked this guy first but it is brilliant casting, he's the damn spitting
image of WILSON FISK, KINGPIN.
VINCENT D'ONOFRIO: MEN IN BLACK, THE CELL, BROOKLYN'S FINEST (FILM)
KINGPIN (WILSON GRANT FISK): VINCENT D'ONOFRIO- 6'3 ½”
WILLIAM FITCHNER has the smoldering persona to play this handsome Mafioso who
was horribly scarred by FRANK CASTLE when he shoved him through a plate glass
window.
WILLIAM FITCHNER: BLACK HAWK DOWN, THE DARK KNIGHT (FILM),
PRISON BREAK (TV)
JIGSAW (WILLIAM “BILLY THE BEAUT” RUSSO): WILLIAM FITCHNER- 6'2”
THE RUSSIAN needs to actually have dialogue in this PUNISHER reboot. ROBERT
MAILLET, I think, could do a passable RUSSIAN accent, with a dialect coach.
Just dye his hair blond and you have the big UGLY version of THE RUSSIAN, the
7-foot version that is! Lol
ROBERT MAILLET: 300, SHERLOCK HOLMES (FILM)
THE RUSSIAN: ROBERT MAILLET- 7'
GARY DOURDAN is a damn fine actor. In this PUNISHER film, here, I want MAGINTY
to be the character he should be, with the Irish accent, a bad-ass, who's a
very capable agent for JIGSAW under KINGPIN and a very dangerous foe for THE
PUNISHER.
GARY DOURDAN: ALIEN RESURRECTION, JUMPING THE BROOM (FILM), CSI:
CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION (TV)
MAGINTY: GARY DOURDAN- 6'2”
BATMAN:
BATMAN: JOE MANGANIELLO- 6'5”
BRUCE WAYNE: JOE MANGANIELLO
MAGGIE GRACE has the tall classy-look of the investigative reporter and love
interest of BRUCE WAYNE, VICKI VALE. With JOE MANGANIELLO being 6'5” you need
a tall leggy actress to play opposite him.
MAGGIE GRACE: TAKEN, FASTER (FILM, LOST (TV)
VICKI VALE: MAGGIE GRACE- 5'9”
WILLIAM HURT is the spitting image of the older COMMISIONER GORDON, both
physically and characteristically-wise.
WILLIAM HURT: BODY HEAT, THE BIG CHILL, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE,
INTO THE WILD, VANTAGE POINT, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, ROBIN HOOD
(FILM)
COMMISIONER GORDON (JAMES GORDON): WILLIAM HURT- 6'2”
TIMOTHY DALTON is also the spitting image of ALFRED PENNYWORTH from the
comics, in appearance and persona. ALFRED is ex-MI-5 & DALTON is an ex-007.
He's perfect! lol
TIMOTHY DALTON: THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, LICENSE TO KILL, THE
ROCKETEER, HOT FUZZ (FILM), CHUCK (TV)
ALFRED (ALFRED THADDEUS CRANE PENNYWORTH): TIMOTHY DALTON- 6'2”
ERIC BANA walks right off the comic page and into film as HARVEY DENT. He
makes a tall statuesque HARVEY DENT to MANGANIELLO'S tall statuesque BRUCE
WAYNE/BATMAN.
ERIC BANA: BLACK HAWK DOWN, TROY, MUNICH, STAR TREK (FILM)
HARVEY DENT: ERIC BANA- 6'2 ½”
EMMA STONE is the very image of the young teenage daughter of JAMES GORDON,
who eventually becomes a very famous individual.
EMMA STONE: SUPERBAD, ZOMBIELAND, EASY A, CRAZY, STUPID LOVE, THE
HELP (FILM)
BARBARA GORDON: EMMA STONE
JOHN GOODMAN is tailor-made for this role of the overweight, on-the-take,
over-all crappy police detective!
JOHN GOODMAN: ARACHNOPHOBIA, THE FLINTSTONES, THE BIG
LEWBOWSKI, O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?, MONSTERS, INC., SPEED
RACER (FILM)
HARVEY BULLOCK: JOHN GOODMAN- 6'2”
ROGUES GALLERY/VILLAINS:
WILLIAM FITCHNER has the looks and temperament to capture the role of the
CLOWN PRINCE OF CRIME.
THE JOKER: WILLIAM FITCHNER- 6'0 ½”
I want an actress who will actually have the beautiful face to match the buxom
body of the gorgeous SELINA KYLE! I'm sorry but ANNE HATHAWAY may have the
“buxom body” but the beautiful face? Not so much!
MICHELLE RYAN: EAST ENDERS, BIONIC WOMAN, MERLIN, DOCTOR WHO
(TV)
CATWOMAN (SELINA KYLE): MICHELLE RYAN- 5'7”
PAUL GIAMATTI, I do believe, is entirely perfect for the short, squat, screwy
crime boss, OSWALD COBBLEPOT, otherwise known as THE PENGUIN.
PAUL GIAMATTI: PLANET OF THE APES, BIG FAT LIAR, SIDEWAYS, CINDERELLA MAN, THE ILLUSIONIST, SHOOT 'EM UP,
THE PENGUIN (OSWALD CHESTERFIELD COBBLEPOT): PAUL GIAMATTI- 5'8 ½”
TWO-FACE: ERIC BANA- 6'2 ½”
I want to completely distance this “COMIC BOOK” BATMAN from the non-comic book,
film-noir, crime-potboiler, mobster-movie that THE DARK KNIGHT was, thus I've
substituted RUPERT THORNE, here, as the regular-type mobster boss amongst all
the super-villain crime-bosses. CLANCY BROWN is SPOT-ON!
CLANCY BROWN: HIGHLANDER, STARSHIP TROOPERS, PET SEMATARY II,
COWBOYS & ALIENS (FILM) CARNIVALE, LEVERAGE (TV)
RUPERT THORNE: CLANCY BROWN- 6'3 ½”
