Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER No Longer Happening At Warner Bros.
After a recent update which suggested everything was on track for the adaptation, a new report brings bad news for Gunslinger fans. Warner Bros. - the second studio to be linked with the movie - have also passed on it. Read on for details..
According to Variety, the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower has hit another major setback, as Warner Bros. have decided to pass on the project. Only last week we brought you the news that the studio had commissioned a new script, and Russell Crowe was even said to have shown interest in the lead role of Roland "The Gunslinger" Deschain should the movie be greenlit. But they were also expected to make a final decision on that in the coming weeks - and it looks like they have.
WB are the second major studio to pass on what was planned to be a cross-platform adaptation of King's epic series of novels, spanning a movie trilogy and a tv series too. Universal were initially going to undertake the mammoth task with Ron Howard directing. Imagine Entertainment is apparently still determined to find a studio, but things don't look too good for the moment.
