Titles For Both Of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Movies Revealed?

New Line has registered two subtitles for what would appear to be the upcoming movies! They're more exciting than 'Part One' and 'Part Two' so check them out after the jump...

The guys over at TheOneRing have spotted something VERY interesting today for all of you Lord of the Rings fans out there, as I think you'll agree when you read the following excerpt from a report posted there earlier this evening.

New Line has recently registered the following two film titles:

The Hobbit: There and Back Again

and...

The Hobbit: An/The Unexpected Journey

Well, they're certaintly more catchy than 'Part One' and 'Part Two', huh? While it's possible that they may be used for merchandise or video games (similar to Thor: The Mighty Avenger as Marvel Studios have done) I think it's likely that these are in fact the subtitles of both films. Stay tuned to CBM for more on this when we have it.

If you've not heard these titles before you obviously know nothing of the book. They haven't been plucked from thin air people...

I'm not too surprised about "There and Back again" because that's the actual title of the story. But in sequence, "There and Back again" and "An unexpected Journey" sounds redundant and/or backwards. It would make more sense if "There and Back again" was the conclusion title for the second film. It can start with "An unexpected Journey" If that must be the titles. I'm not really buying it yet. The Hobbit is filled with many references and dialog that can be made into more appropriate titles. The chapter titles themselves are inspiring. They can use something from the Gollum part of the story and make a title. Oh well, whatever.

Yeah, I'm with Neo, if those ARE the subtitles, definitely backwards.

@Xenix - LOL! The LOTR movies are great but that reminds me of this clip.

These are two fine titles. Hopefully, this will confirm speculation we've seen here before that the first film will tell the actual story of The Hobbit, and the second film will cover 'the rest of the story', such as just where Gandalf went when he left the company for a while.

The first chapter of the Hobbit is called "An Unexpected Party," so the titles make perfect sense. But obviously, as @Neo pointed out, Unexpected Journey would be Part 1, then There and Back Again would follow. I dig 'em.

@intruder - Agreed. The only really good thing about the SW prequels was the last half of ROTS after Anakin became Vader. The blue chick was hot though.

@NeoBaggins====I said the very same thing before I even saw your post. Right on point man. If It was a bridge story maybe. But It sounds too reversed to me.
Anyway Im all jacked up on these movies and cant wait. I am assuming the titles are false. My Pick:
The Hobbit & The Silmarillion (Part One)
The Hobbit: There and Back Again. (part Two)
I know theyre not fantastic, but its something i was thinking about. Cheers to u all!

Lord of the Rings Trilogy rapes all the Star Wars movies hands down. And the Hobbit movies will most likely blow the prequels out of the water if not the original series as well. Thats right Im an LOTR fanboy
