A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

In the following interview clip with Hit Fix while promoting his new film Haywire, Channing Tatum briefly comments on the idea of a full-on reboot of the G.I. Joe film franchise (Retaliation, in which Tatum reprises his role of 'Duke', has been seen as a semi-reboot of sorts). He says that he would've preferred a complete reboot, saying that the film would've been 'cleaner' but the studio didn't want to go in that direction.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is set to hit theaters June 29th, later this year.
