International buyers have been attending the L.A. Screenings sampling the new U.S. television shows. Deadline is reporting that some series are receiving some solid buzz, but there doesn't seem to be any standouts. One of the shows that is garnering high praise from the international community is CW's Arrow.

Among the new shows gettings thumbs-up is Warner Bros’ superhero CW drama Arrow. “It was surprisingly good,” said Ruediger Boess, head of acquisitions for Germany’s ProSiebenSat1. “It’s darker and older than the standard CW shows, and its very well cast.”

CW's Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy as Dinah “Laurel” Lance, Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen, and David Ramsey as John Diggle.

I reckon the CW could do a great Nightwing series. It wouldn't have to have much to do with batman or any to do with batman really. It could be set in bludhaven and make a decent series

I didn't care for Smallville at all, but this new Green Arrow looks pretty cool.

That's great! I really have high hopes for this series.
It definitely had its flaws, but kudos for Smallville to give many DC characters a spotlight and especially for the Green Arrow, we gets to have his story properly told!

Looks alright.. but I watched Smallville for 10 years, so it's just annoying for them to insist Green Arrow wasn't getting a spin-off...then they make a Green Arrow show that's unrelated. Why? Just cause..

I'd rather they done a Nightwing show.

I'm hoping after the success of Smallville in the UK E4 will pick this up, if SyFy UK get the rights they'll hack it to pieces like they've done with most of it's shows

@Owlman, I disagree. I felt Smallville's version wasn't true to the comics, while this one feels right to me. It looks like it will be in-line with the Green Arrow comics from the late 80s and early 90s.

By the trailer, they've gotten a lot more right about Green Arrow than Smallville ever did. That said...Green Arrow was probably the best part of Smallville.

Can't wait for this show. It does look to be a decent looking CW show.

First, the reason there is no Nightwing is because who is Nightwing. After Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, Green Arrow is probably the best known superhero that DC has thanks to the millions of viewers of Smallville.

Second, why no Smallville spinoff? Sure a spinoff of Smallville would be the safer play with some kind of ratings floor but with less of an upside. By using a character that Smallville viewers are familiar with but making it clear this is not the same character they hope to get the Smallville fans and also the comic fans who are looking for something new.

The reason why there is not Nightwing is because of the Batman embargo (and the fact that Batman fans trashed "The Graysons").

That's the kind of thing you want to hear with a new TV show. I have a bit more hope for it now.

I hope Katie Cassidy ends up suiting up as Black Canary. You know, not just being Dinah Lance through out the entire series.

That would be such a huge missed opportunity if that never came to fruition. Because she would kick so much ass as Black Canary.

@grif I completely agree with you on how attractive Katie Cassidy is. :)

@monkeyballs The worst Superman to ever grace a screen of any kind? What show were you watching? Tom Welling was a more human Clark Kent. He was very relatable IMO.

And the show itself lasted for 10 years. That's a huge accomplishment for a live-action superhero TV show.

It's going to be a very long time before another superhero TV show lasts as long as Smallville did.

ProSiebenSat1! Great. I knew it would be abaout a German network when I read the headline on main but I thought it might be RTL. That network got Smallville years ago even though they dumbed it to RTL II after a few seasons and then later even in the midnight program. The ninth season ran from about 1 a.m. to 2. a.m. (no rerun). The tenth seson hasn't been broadcast yet. Anyway I wonder when Arrow will reach Germany, on which of the networks TV stations it will be shown and which time slot it will get. It somehow doesn't realy fit into the networks program. I'm very much looking foreward to it though.

The fact that they said that it's a darker and older, meaning more mature is great. I'll definitely watch Arrow and see how it progresses. Green Arrow probably wouldn't be a big draw as a film, but as a tv show, if done right will give the character more exposure. Maybe DC can use the show to tie it into a shared cinematic universe with their CBMs.
