Its pretty cool to have an actress of her caliber in a role like this. I know Amanda Waller is a huge asset in the comics but in the movie she looks to have a small role.

Also the guy is right there need to be more black comic book characters. I mean you can literally count how many there are. And not just that but other races such as Asian, Hispanic, and Native Americans. Although I must say that the black characters in the comics are pretty badass. Black Panther is one of the most dangerous men in the world (the Bruce Wayne of Marvel) and John Stewart is an excellent Green Lantern and who I think can surpass Hal Jordan.

^^ I agree. If I was running DC I would use this movie to make a shared DC Universe. Amanda Waller would be a great way of connecting DC heros together just like Nick Furry is doing in the Marvel movies. For actually once, DC should do what Smallville did and have Amanda Waller try to unite the heros to face up against Darkseid. Thus the Justice League movie we have all been craving for. Not just copy and paste what Marvel is doing but obviously go on that same route.

Dude what is your deal. I know it is past your bedtime. And again does your caps lock on the fritz because putting your comments in caps does not make your point make any sense. At this point you are either Stan Lee or Kevin Feige. And yeah DC should be doing this just not how I put it. WB/DC should create a share universe between their properties just like Marvel which would eventually lead to a JLA movie. So yeah for once your right DC should be doing what Marvel is. Even DC fans say thats the route they should go.

@Froggy Exactly Amanda Waller hates the Justice Leauge but will manipulate the heroes to save the day none the less. But she could be used as a bridging gap between the heros in the DC universe almost like she wanted to do in (I dare to say this) Smallville.

Warner Brothers have stated their interest in Green Lantern taking over Harry Potter's spot.
Possibly, the rumors suggesting Green Lantern leading a Justice League without Superman and Batman are true.
Next Friday, we'll find out.

Angela Bassett would be been a great Storm in the X-Men back in the days.

@reclusemaverick

DC property going to take over Harry Potter spot. meaning any DC comic book character taking over not just Green Lantern. if the Green Lantern fail WB will look at another DC character that work for them.

Re: N
That is the most moronic comment I've ever read. Do you make those same comments about Telemundo? Logo? Oxygen? Or is it just Black oriented outlets you have a problem with?

Angela Bassett is so underrated.

Angela is one of my favorite actresses! Hot! I will concede having a hot Amanda Waller being it is her playing the part. :-)

Peteyparker@ Why would she be in the Man of Steel? Snyder has already stated that his Superman and Nolan's Batman will not be involved with the JLA film.

@Nephillim But even if we do notify ourselves in that way, it shouldn't be mocked the way N does. Maybe we make our shows, channels, and movies the way we do is so we can broadcast to other African Americans and let them know this is something they should be supporting. But i can i agree with what YOU are saying. I don't believe in playing the stereotypes for amusement (Cough Cough Tyler Perry cough cough).

BET is own by Viacom guess who own that cough cough white people LMAO. alot of black people cant stand BET also.

Writing this article, I knew in the back of mind the comments section would get on those types of discussions.

It's sad that whenever someone black is the highlight of an article, this stuff comes up.

@N While it does look like you started this nonsense, and my response to that will be what Nephillim said....because I agree

BET's problem lies with Black Media not acknowledging the Black society as a normal society, but thrives on the stereotypes it supposedly detests.

Again, while I do agree with what the above statement is saying, BET is just doing what sells these days in black society.

Angela Basset will do great in this role just as she does in others @N stop the disrespectul comments about blacks

@ CaptainStraps this does not mean DC is copying Marvel, many of U r too young to remember that DC has been aroung longer and even thou shows like George Reeves/Superman, Adam West/Batman & Linda Carter/Wonderwoman are older they were hit shows, as was Smallville despite people's comments heck DC even has a Shazam series.

Marvel only has The Incredible Hulk as a landmark series because their Spider-man did not hold up & what about in the 80' and 90's when Superman and Batman dominated the box office and ur Marvel only has the Punisher and stuff like Captain America from 90 or 91 and FF 4 from 1994 did not get realeased.

The reason I bring this up is because Marvel did dominate last decade & many of U r like "owe they letting it all ride on Green Lantern" Well if I recall in 2000 Marvel only has one film the X-men & in 02 Spider-man, they did not have multiple characters at

the box office until 03 with Daredevil, X2 & Hulk & funny how many of U never talk about the huge over 60%drop the Hulk had in his second week at theatres and Daredevil did not perform in the ballpark of X2 not that I thought it was.

Point is that things take time & beginning nxt year WB/DC will have two films out & they happen to be the two biggest CB Icons of all time Batman and Superman and then we will begin seeing 2 to 3 films per year but right now it is about Green Lantern & Angela Basset as Amanda Waller will be Kick A**, she will do a fantastic job, just want & see!

@Intruder U r a "total idiot" because U missed the whole entire point of what I am saying, I am saying stop looking for DC to fail at everything because both labels have had their faults & can continue to improve because unlike U I like both DC & Marvel & one more thing Intruder "next time grown folks talking Idiot close your mouth" in other words stay out of the conversation dumba**! hahahaha

& one more thing "so called" Intruder, I will be looking 4 U after I see Green Lantern nxt weekend

Justice League movie will own Avengers movie anyday. Just like Dc owned Marvel in their crossover.

"My shield missed!" ~ Captain America(When he got hit with a Batarang)

But I think Dc announced they wouldn't be following Marvels path....Yet.

intruder is just an extremist it is absolutely pointless trying to talk with him regarding a DC movie,

true cbegin09,yes most of us like movies from both brands and want all of them to be entertaining but sometimes movies from both brands do not live up to our expectations, but remember to have ur arguments with rational and logical people ;) so it's worthwhile

im super excited for GL based on the promos and hopefully the story will live up to it,have to wait and see.

but i predict an opening of $40 mil - $50 mil and then onwards it will have to depend on word of mouth and if all goes well a final gross in the vicinity of $170 mil - $180 mil at best given the nature of the hero and the awareness level.

@Intruder You know you're in for a major spanking after GL comes out, right? I suggest you had to Turks & Caicos for a week or so because there's gonna be some "Intruder Slappin'" going on for quite some time. I notice you an Leee have been pretty quiet about "First Class" lately too. Lol. You better hope Cap kicks major ass or you'll be watching your credibility go the way of the Dodo. I'll always say though, despite your prejudice, you were a really funny guy and not even an idiot...sometimes. RIP Intruder.

And on a different note, when does the campaign start to get rid of those stupid "Troll" emotes and where do I sign up? Could we not come up with a more retarded visually intrusive way to tell us what we all are already aware of? And like warning us that we may be dealing with a "Troll" makes any [frick]ing difference anyway? Who gives a shit? No offense to the Wharton Business School Grad who came up with that brilliant idea, lest God forbid I wake to find a cute little Troll icon on my comment...but seriously...out of all the dumb shit that's gone down on this site that's the only one that made me seriously consider bailing for good. Take it down. Now. Oh shit...I was just technically "whining"! [frick]ing Witch hunt. McCarthyism at it's finest. I submit that this site would be as dull as a baseball bat without some of our beloved Trolls.

I love this Angela Basset as Amanda Waller and atleast she is not some washed up has been from 1974 whos greatest claim is Cleopatra Jones or Foxy Brown (Smallville). Hey Chris Nolan get her to appear in Batman do what Marvel has done expand the Universe.
