COLUMBUS, OHIO

A report released by the Ohio Department of Transportation reveals that already this winter there have been 63 snowplow related crashes. That number already surpasses last years total of 57 for the entire season.

The department has included a request in it's budget for green flashing LED lights (GREEN LANTERNS) to be placed on top of it's snow removal equipment. Research has indicated that green lights are more visible in snowy, wintery conditions than the yellow flashing lights currently used by ODOT.

Now here is the good part, direct from the ODOT news release...

"Taking a cue from the comic book superhero who uses green light to protect the people of Earth, the Ohio Department of Transportation is hoping a Green Lantern will protect its snowplows from a dangerous spike in crashes this season."

Hawksblueyes: I have never seen any branch of the government citing comic book or CBM characters as inspiration. I thought this was worth sharing and hopefully, you would get a kick out of it also.
