After  a lengthy Hollywood career, Sterling K. Brown is finally turning heads thanks to breakout roles in This Is Us and The People vs O.J. Simpons.  He's quickly found himself in high-profile movies as well, with upcoming turns in Shane Black's Predator reboot and Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. However, when word first broke conerning the DCEU's (rumored) plans for Green Latnern Corps. Brown quickly threw his hat in the ring for the role of John Stewart.  Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Brown has stated that there's been no progress since his Tweet from three months ago.

"Let me say that the campaign has never been officially launched. That’s just Brown sending out a tweet innocuously in the middle of the night after he recognized that the role needed to be cast. Like ‘Hey, I like Green Lantern, give it a shot.’ No further updates on the development of the Green Lantern pursuit, but I’m still very much interested and intrigued in playing that role."

If Brown is still trully interested, and likely has his agent keeping an eye on the project, the lack of movement could mean that WB still isn't ready to cast the role or they already have someone picked.

Even though I like Sterling K. Brown a lot... Trevante Rhodes would be my choice

@ThePanther - Aldis Hodge would be a better suit for the role. His role in his Underground series really proves that he has potential star power. He was also phenomenal in Straight Outta Compton.

@PrinceAwesome - Trevante is most definitely a better actor and physically is more suitable for the role.

I really like both, but Rhodes is my pick as well.

@kong - Either choices would be fine really. It's just good to see someone else cast a young, talented actor for the role instead of some 40-something year old actor that would probably be in his 50s by the time GL Corps comes out (case in point: Sterling Brown).

But regardless, I think that Aldis Hodge manages to pull off a balance of the John Stewart character. John is a stern military veteran in his own ways, so his character would need to balance out his strictness along with his sardonic behavior when he's out on a mission. Between Aldis and Trevante, Aldis seems to specialize in the well-rounded disciplined loyalty John Stewart has for the Corps. That's why he's my pic.

@ThePanther - Rhodes would play him well, and (after watching John Wick 2) I gotta say I could really see Common play Jon Stewart.

@ThePanther - Nick Cannon should play John Stewart. He would appeal to the young, MTV crowd, just like Jared Leto's version of the Joker.

@ThePanther - Now if only Rhodes had on screen charisma. I can't remember a role he's had where he hasn't just faded into the background when other actors are present. Maybe I'm forgetting one?

@Mjolnir215 - I hope this is a joke. Because Nick Cannon is a huge joke. Hey, here's a thought...why not cast T.I for GL??

Dammit, I just realized I could have been watching the new MST3K episodes like 2 hours ago. Wasn't feeling it at first, but just seeing Patton Oswald's adorable [frick]ing face has got me in the right mood...

@Spock0Clock - This is AWESOME!!!!!!! I love that it is still super low-budget, like some kind of Saturday afternoon movie showcase program on some crappy local station from the 80's. The younger generation will sadly never get to experience those things.

I remember waaaaaaay back when Comedy Central first came on our home cable. They used to play this all the time. Probably because each episode was 2 hours long and they didn't have enough programming to fill out their schedule. I used to watch this every chance I could. Then in college, I had a copy of the movie, and my roommate and I watched it nonstop for an entire semester because we didn't have cable or any other VHS tapes.

Glad to see it return in similar form, and thanks for letting me know!
