Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Set In Year 2045?

With Marvel reportedly contacting many UK motorcycle manufacturers for a futuristic-looking bike, likely for Guardians of the Galaxy, the 2014 space epic’s time-frame may have been revealed.

As the James Gunn-directed space epic’s cast slowly fills out, Guardians of the Galaxy is currently prepping production in England for a late-June filming start date. In light of set preparations, UK motorcycle manufacturers have been approached by Marvel, who are apparently seeking “[multiple] futuristic looking electric bikes.” The Motorbike Times reports, “The comic book movie makers have contacted the Motorcycle Industry Association (McIa) and explained that the bike will be used in a major production that will be shot in England in an imaginary 2045.” Although Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t named as the major production these prospective futuristic bikes will feature in, it is the only Phase Two cinematic venture that’s slated to film in the UK, other than The Avengers 2. However, what’s most interesting from the above quote is that Guardians may take place in the year 2045, which is quite a time-jump for the Marvel Cinematic Universe; especially since the Guardians is expected to lead up to The Avengers 2 in 2015.

Im guessing that in the movie they're gonna talk about something bad happening in the present day maybe with thanos, or they're going to talk about the legend that the avengers became.

They probably told the company that so it wouldn't give anything away but they would still be able to have an idea of what it should look like, it prob takes place the same time as iron man 3, just in a futuristic realm.

Isn't this the same year the Justice League film is supposed to come out?

I think that confirms..unless they're mistaken of course...that there will be a time travel element.

Za-Zing! haha

I have no problem with this, just make sure Groot and Rocket kick some ass in the movie and I'm game for anything :)

Has the whole "Iron Man going into space to meet the Guardians," thing been confirmed, though? I thought that's the main speculation, meaning that this can very well be true. And I don't know much about Guardians of the Galaxy, but I love me some futuristic sets.

I love the idea of setting the Guardians in the future. Its a brilliant way of fleshing out the MCU not just in space but also in time.

It will be the type of film that goes back and forth between times.

Sweet...30 years into the future? That's a nice round number. Starlord obviously has to come back to 2015 to get his father to ask his mother to the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. Expect a Namor cameo for that one.

My guess is that the bikes aren't for an Earth set in 2045 but rather another planet that is more advanced than present day earth. So making bikes that look like they are from 2045 you would achieve that.

cool! This is my least anticipated Marvel movie because I basicly know nothing about it and the heros are pretty much D-list.
It would be awesome if they have an old Tony Stark in 2045 working with Star Lord. Maybe old Iron Man helps young Iron Man to find them.

This explains why Richie is so young in Iron Man 3. He'll grow up and become Nova in GOTG.

More than likely their story will take place in an alternate future where Thanos has conquered earth and destroyed the Avengers. They may end up finding a Tony Stark in hypersleep in his deep space suit. Tony goes on some adventures with them and then they go back in time to prevent Thanos from taking over. ...badda bing badda boom.

There is a way this could work in a way along with all the rumours we've heard so far. What if the after credits scene of Iron Man 3 is Star Lord or another member of the Guardians of the Galaxy finding Tony on Earth. Puzzled, Tony asks what he is doing there, and Star Lord answers 'Responding to your distress call'. Tony then explains he didn't send out a distress call, but Star Lord continues to explain that Tony sent out a call for help because Thanos was threatening the planet. We would see the Guardians receive the distress call at the end of their movie, but we wouldn't see Tony actually make the call until during The Avengers 2. So essentially, Star Lord and the Guardians are responding early to a distress call Tony hasn't made yet, and in effect warn him about the impending threat of Thanos. This would set up the threat of Thanos for Avengers 2, introduce the idea of Guardians of the Galaxy to the huge audience of everyone who goes to see Iron Man 3, and gives some foreshadowing for the events of the next Avengers. It sounds crazy, but I can dream.

I wonder how these will al tie together then? Especially since there is that rumor that at the end of IM3 Tony heads into space
