GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Will Kick Off Phase 4's New Story After AVENGERS 4

It's been confirmed that Avengers 4 will wrap up the story which kicked off in Iron Man way back in 2008 and took a very interesting turn with the introduction of Thanos in The Avengers. There have been hints that Phase 4 (which may not even be a traditional "phase") could be cosmic in nature and James Gunn has revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be one of the films kicking that off.

It remains to be seen which new villain will be introduced as an overarching threat to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how long it will take for that to come to a head but it's good to know that whatever Phase 4 looks like, we'll be getting a new story which hopefully brings all these heroes together down the line. On the other hand, it might just end up involving the heroes in outer space!

We'll have to wait and see but it's good to know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be a pivotal part of what comes next for this shared world. The team is expected to play a pivotal role in Avengers: Infinity War and Gunn has been closely involved with the team's role there. What are you guys most excited about seeing in Phase 4 of the MCU? @HappyHater - Unfortunately they don't, that would be Fox. As cool as that would be, i would prefer the next overarching villain to not be another galactic conqueror. Maybe Norman Osborn doing the Dark Avengers? And this would be after Secret Invasion?

@Termin8er - if the Skrulls and Quicksilver are both shared characters between Fox and Marvel Kang should be too....maybe even Galactus!

I like your Norman Osborn pitch though.

@Ryguy88 - right? It would be a cool way to use Norman without doing the Goblin again. and i like the idea of a human (or slight superhuman) villain causing as much trouble as an intergalactic conqueror.

And regarding your point about skrulls and quicksilver, we could play the shoulda woulda coulda game all day on this site, but unfortunately it wouldn't change the fact that kang and galactus are at fox :/

@Termin8er - but are we sure that they are not shared between the 2 studios?

@Ryguy88 - Galactus? or skrulls? I'm positive galactus is at fox and i'm PRETTY sure Skrulls are shared.
