Touching on her apparent preference for sci-fi films, actress
Zoë Saldaña says that it's not intentional, it's just that she's drawn to creativity and stories that are different from every day life. As the actress describes her criteria for role selection it's not a stretch to say she's a bit of a risk taker.
"I do have an affinity for people, writers, directors and storytellers who are that creative and have an infinite imagination to imagine the unimaginable and boldly go where no one has gone before. I know it sounds cheesy to use that line as a reference but it's true — it takes a lot of talent and courage and freedom to conceive something that you have never seen, or take inspiration from everything around your life and build something that you've never actually physically seen with your eyes."
Currently, Saldaña admits that she doesn't know a whole lot about Gamora, the character she'll be playing
Guardians of the Galaxy, but she's looking forward to the challenge.
"That's the part that has me all excited -- I'm walking into an unknown territory. I'm curious [about the costume]. That's what I want I start to check out, too: Am I going to wear leather? Is it going to be spandex? How's my hair going to look?"
One thing the actress does know, is that she'll definitely be green. The actress recently confirmed that she'll be physically playing Gamora on screen as opposed to wearing a motion-capture suit like the one she wore for
Avatar.
"I know that, trust me," said Saldaña. Perhaps, she'll don a bodysuit similar to the one Jennifer Lawrence will be wearing in
X-Men: Days of Future Past.
"Guardians of the Galaxy is a Phase II Marvel Studios film set for release on August 1, 2014. The film will be directed by James Gunn who will work off a script penned by Gunn, Chris McCoy and Nicole Perlman. Chris Platt will star as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, with other members of the cast including Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Ophelia Lovibond."
