Bonham Carter and Pfeiffer in Talks to Join Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

Director Tim Burton is looking to add two of his favorite lead actresses to his latest film, Dark Shadows.

It looks as though Tim Burton is looking to his usual actors for his latest film project Dark Shadows. Some may find this news not much of a surprise, as Burton seems to rely on this group of actors for just about every film he does. Having said that, I'm not sure he could rely on a better group of actors.

Michelle Pfeiffer is in talks to play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. And while talks haven't begun yet, I'm told Helena Bonham Carter is in line to play Dr. Julia Hoffman.

Pfeiffer, as you all know, worked with Burton in 1992's Batman Returns along side Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito. The actress would be playing the matriarch of the Collins clan, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. This character is the owner of Collinwood, the estate where this entire saga unravels.

Bonham Carter would likely play Hoffman, who is a specialist in psychology and rare blood disorders. Inititally, the character is a threat to Barnabas, but ultimately becomes an ally, who may be the person who is able to cure him of his want and need for blood. Bonham Carter was recently nominated for an Oscar for her role in The King's Speech

The two actresses would be joining Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate. With this news, I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Christopher Lee and Alan Rickman join the party.

Burton- Morning honey, how'd you sleep?
Carter- Not bad thanks Tim, any milk left?
Burton- Sure, in the fridge. By the way, do you want to be in my next movie?
Carter- Ok, but only if you take out the garbage.

Its probably in there pre-nup that Tim cant have Johnny in one of his movies unless she's in it to, kind of like how your girlfriend won't let you hang out with your friend-who-is-a-girl unless she can tag along too, for fear that you'll run off and cheat on her.

Like I said, I'm not going to be shocked if we see Christopher Lee, Alan Rickman or Michael Sheen join in soon. He may be using the same actors over...and over...and over....and over, but at least they are all great actors and you know you won't be disappointed with the performances in his films. Stories on the other hand....

Does Helena Bonham Carter have a contract with Burton right before they got married that he is obligated to cast her in every single movie of his?

I think they're all great actors (maybe with the exception of Helena) when they have the right story and director to work with, that being said, Tim Burton hasn't made a good story in years, and it seems like his entire directing process is "be as weird as possible, weird is good, and add more black and white stripes and swirly designs to everything, has Danny Elfman finished the score yet? ah screw it we'll use the same music from Nightmare Before Christmas"

Helena Bonham Carter is an actress I really love but I am getting a bit tired of Depp, Burton and Carter being in the same film all the time. I enjoyed watching Carter in "The King's Speech", and I hope she passes on this and does something a little different. I'd love to see someone like Meryl Streep cast as Dr. Hoffman, as she could be interesting, she could freshen up a Burton film, since we are not used to seeing her in fantasy.

I agree, some new talent in Burton's movies would be nice. I like Depp but, seriously, how many times can they make him look like an Edward Scissorhands wannabe?

When your talking about actors the caliber of Carter and Depp then frakking sure your gonna keep using em! Burton has had a few misfires, but I'll always at least wait and see what he delivers.

no to Pfeiffer.....Burton really needs to find some new crushes. I think Betty White would be a good chioce for Elizabeth Stoddard... and Grace Slick from Starship can play Julia hoffman

Carter and Depp.
Together.
In Burton's movies.
I know it's over and over and over and over and over...

Well, you get the point.
But to my surprise, I enjoyed every single one of them.
Sweeney Todd most of all.

Always loved Burton's work and looking forward to the next one.

A Tim Burton movie with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter....what a twist. I understand Burton lets Johnny do the crazy and weird, but even those need to be toned down. Carter is always gonna be part of a Burton movie and it will always be a main lead too. I hope they let him get dark and gloomy with this movie, back to the good films of Burton, not I need the money Burton like he has done with a few projects*coughs* PLANET OF THE APES*Coughs*
