Leslie Jones Slams The New GHOSTBUSTERS Movie: "So Insulting... Like F*** Us, We [Didn't] Count"
The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot wasn't met with a particularly positive response and now star Leslie Jones has taken aim at Sony Pictures for deciding to release a sequel (of sorts) to the original movies.
Last week, we learned that Jason Reitman will write and direct a new Ghostbusters movie which is set in the same continuity as the first two instalments. Revolving around a group of teenagers who seemingly inherit the mantle from the original team, it's unclear whether or not the classic foursome will play any sort of role in proceedings, but fans are hopeful.
Someone who isn't best pleased is Leslie Jones, one of the stars of the 2016 female-led reboot which also featured Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon.
Her reaction is understandable, but various outlets have reported that two of the teens are going to be female which means Sony isn't completely giving up on the idea of bringing some diversity to the beloved franchise.
The sad fact is that the overwhelmingly negative response to 2016's Ghostbusters movie was because it featured an all-female cast, but it didn't end up being particularly good anyway thanks to a weak script and forced cameos from some of the original actors which were rejected by fans. Now, it seems as if the reboot will be forgotten about when this "sequel" is released.
Do you think Jones' reaction is over the top or warranted? Let us know your thoughts below.
