Joss Whedon On The Hulk; Says PLANET HULK "Absolutely Could Be Put Onscreen"
In a newly released interview from IGN, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon talks about what's stopping Marvel from making a solo Hulk film, whether or not he wants to see another Hulk film, and much more! Hit the jump to check it out!
We've had many, many rumors regard the Hulk's future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then, there has been a lot of talk about a possible Planet Hulk film! While many people would love to see this, Mark Ruffalo (in a previous interview) and Director Joss Whedon in a new interview with IGN, reveals that another Hulk film is held back because of other studio rights. Whedon's thoughts are below.
“Honestly I think it’s a legal thing. I think it’s because there’s other studio rights and this and that. It’s difficult. Hulk movies are very difficult because it isn’t a classic superhero story. It is more of a werewolf story, and finding a way to thread both of those makes if difficult. But I think it has more to do with the boring issues… because they love the Hulk and they love Mark as much as I do.”
Even though the film the film will most likely not be made due to studios differences, Joss Whedon reveals that the Planet Hulk movie is certainly a film that can be put on the big screen. He also says that if the film were to be made, it would be very expensive and more grounded.
“It absolutely could be put onscreen. I don’t know if it should. I think part of what makes the Hulk great is the world around him and the Banner of it. And it would be mad expensive as well. I think if they were going to do a Hulk movie, they’d want to keep it more grounded.”
Will another solo Hulk film ever be made? The only way that could happen if Marvel gets together and makes a deal with Universal. Until then, we'll just see Hulk in The Avengers films. Is that a problem? Not at all, because according to Mark Ruffalo and Joss Whedon, they have some "big" plans for the Hulk! What could these plans be? Could he possibly appear in Thor: Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Who knows? What do you think Marvel will do with the Hulk character going foward? Sound off below with your thoughts!
