Ben Kingsley's Secret MARVEL Project Has Been Uncovered

Last week, Sir Ben Kingsley, revealed that he had been working on a secret project for Marvel, but would not divulge any details. Now, El Mayimbe of Latino Review, has the scoop. Check it out!

Shane Black's Iron Man 3 did incredibly well at the box office. Critics for the most part gave it solid marks. However, fans have been divided by it's big twist, which is Ben Kingsley's Mandarin isn't really the Mandarin. He's actually, Trevor Slattery, a drunken British actor hired by Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) to give Evil a face.

So, when Kingsley was doing press for Ender's Game last week, and the actor told the Belfast Telegraph that he worked on a secret Marvel project, hope began to arise. Could Marvel rectify the Mandarin mistake? Latino-Review.com seems to think so.
According to sources, Marvel wants to make it up to fans so in the one shot, the REAL Mandarin is furious with Aldrich Killian and Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s identity and legacy. The real Mandarin wants to set the record straight.

Yes, the REAL Mandarin.

How is he going to set the record straight? That I don’t know. Who is going to play the real Mandarin? Don’t know either. Wait and see. - El Mayimbe

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Iron Man 3 was directed by Shane Black, from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce. The film opened in theaters May 3, 2013. It stars: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes), and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

How would that be useful? Is he going to be the bad guy in Iron Man 4 or something? If so, he better have rings that work.

My bets on Aldrich Killian's dad to be the Real Mandarin who looks like Trevor since Trevor went through surgery to look like the Mandarin.

Trevor does mention that he did have plastic surgery to look like someone, maybe that was the real Mandarin.

I think the Mandarin heat from Iron Man 3 got to Feige and now he's trying to make it right. He should have never let Shane Black have as much freedom as he did.

Donnie Yen! Or Andy Lau like he was suppose to!

Moohika's right, too much creative control left to the director and not the studio can turn out to be a disaster

Aldrich Killian: My father used to say, 'Failure is the fog through which we glimpse triumph.'

Ever since the movie came out, I have been saying that the Real Mandarin must be his father.

El Mayimbe is such a dipshit.... Marvel isn't going to discredit Killian as the Mandarin just because CBM cry babies didn't get the comic version of the Mandarin. I can see him being in a One-shot, but not in this capacity. How many times does this idiot take HUGE shots in the dark and come up completely and utterly wrong before everybody ignores him.

They said last week that it was a big secret.

Marvel one shot's are great and all, but I wouldn't consider them to be big news/projects.

I think we could still see more of him in another film.

Ah well.

If true... called it. Kingsley will play the real Mandarin obviously, with Trevor made to look as though he was a double, hence the plastic surgery he was given.

Hey if it's true I'd buy it happening, kind of fits with the mandarin's eccentric personality to get revenge on an actor. Plus they could BS about how the REAL Mandarin leads the Ten Ring and Killian took the idea and ran with it

@SpiderParker

I like that idea of the real Mandrian being Adrich Killian's father. He could still be played by Ben Kingsley as well since Trevor Slattery made it pretty clear that they gave him plastic surgery. Plus, the added bonus is that Marvel Studio is actually listening to the fans, which is cool to see! (Its a bonus to me though, I actually liked IM3!)

Maybe you should have done it the right way the first time and not waste a fantastic actor like Ben Kingsley. My god, I still get chills remembering the scenes of him speaking in the trailers. It would have made for an ASTOUNDING villain, but nooooooooo. Hell, going back to the trailers, so much of the Mandarin's dialogue that made him seem so threatening is cut out of the final film. I still like the movie but what a tremendous waste of legendary potential

I remember the first time I was talking with a friend of mine about if they did something similar and I remember him saying "that would make it worse!"

I still like Ben Kinglsey as Trevor... but I think if they kept him as the Mandarin and as a main threat it would have made it an even better movie in many eyes.

If they don't fix this, then the whole back story of the 10 rings in IM 1&2 doesn't make any sense.

...or Trevor actually is the real Mandarin!

OR..remember how Trevor said he had plastic surgery... to make him LOOK like the real Mandarin. So Kingsley will play the dual role of Trevor and the Mandarin.

I'm very happy right now if this is true. This is exactly how I wanted it to happen in Iron Man 3 for me to be happy with the twist. If this is the next one-shot I can finally watch my copy of Iron Man 3 without getting frustrated.
