Keep your eyes open for the Iron Man 2 film novelization that is not only available in the UK, but has been spotted in comic stores in the US. The official release date for the book is April 1st, 2010.
Using the first film's novelization as a reference, readers should expect to find plenty of Easter eggs and subplots; some of which may not make it into the final cut of the film.
For example, here are a few deviations between 2008's Iron Man and it's print counterpart:
- It is revealed that J.A.R.V.I.S. stands for Just. A. Really. Very. Intelligent. System.
- It is explained that Tony went to see Rhodey in the Air Force hanger because he wanted Rhodey to man the suit. However, Tony realizes that Rhodey would first do what the military wanted, which is the opposite of want Tony desired. Stane later says that it is because Rhodes is part of "the war machine," hinting at his future persona.
- Tony does not battle the Ten Rings right after the charity event. He instead throws a party at his house in Dubai and leaves from there during the fireworks, providing him with an alibi.
- Cell leader Raza mentions that he works for someone who's ring he wears, pointing to the Mandarin. Stane says the Ten Rings shouldn't get him involved. Later, when attempting to acquire the Mark I armor, Stane takes Raza's ring and wears it for the remainder of the story.
- Pepper's first meeting with Tony is laid out. She found a math mistake of Tony's and tired to notify him personally. Tony gives her the nickname Pepper because she bluffed Tony's security by telling them she's douse them with pepper spray if they try to take her away. Tony immediately made her his assistant.
- Rhodey actually tried to put on the Mark 2 suit but his head was too big for the helmet.
