Robert Downey Jr To Play Lestat In New Vampire Chronicles Movie?

Yes folks, Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes, and now Lestat! Bloody Disgusting reports that the "Iron Man 2" star is in talks to front a new feature film adaptation of Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles"...

If this happens RDJ would play L'Estat, the character played by Tom Cruise in "Interview with the Vampire" and later, Stuart Townsend in "Queen of the Damned".(the less said about that movie the better!)

Universal Pictures are behind the pic, but it's not yet known which novel--the first five books, which feature L'Estat prominently, are especially popular--in the "Chronicles" series they plan to kick the new series off. There are ten books in all to choose.

And before we get yells of hysteria from some of you, L'Estat has been featured in a comic series from Mile High Comics.

I really liked "Interview With The Vampire," even though it was less a horror movie than a supernatural drama. Yet so was the book on which it's based. I also read the next few books in the series and this has potential if they don't go the way of "Queen Of The Damned".

So, looks like we may see RDJ sport some blond locks in the near future!
