Toy Story 3 Sets A Box Office Record For Pixar, Jonah Hex Fails Miserably!

YOU NEVER MESS CONTEND WITH PIXAR!!!! seriously, I'm so glad this film TANKED horribly...this probably makes it one of the worse CBM made....Punisher War Zone made more money and that was in the same place opening week as Hex....lets hope the animated short does the character some REAL justice

@ironbat...yeah it doesn't help that promos started 6 weeks prior...it helps to promote it months in advance...even that Mastadon said this film was nowhere near complete and should not have been released this week....YOU FAIL WB, your not gonna replicate TDK money with hex, Now if this film had an attached Teaser for Green lantern then maybe it would have done better...well ladies and gentlemen, START YOUR FAN CASTS NOW for the potential reboot

I like westerns (The Quick and the Dead & anything with Clint Eastwood). I had some high hopes when I first learned that they were going to make a Hex film, but once I saw that Fox was going to be in it... all hope went *flush*. Then I read some of the plot details. WTF? Could they get any farther for the original source material?
@Ironbat95- You said it all. :) They really thought that they could go toe-to-toe with ANY Pixar film!? HA!

Hex would have bombed even if it didn't open against story. It was just a crappy movie and everyone knew it. My worry is that after the losers tanked and now Jonah hex that wb/dc will be scared off making comicbook movies, especially with lesser known characters.

@supedog yeah that really sux when you think about it. DC has to take a page out of Marvels book and MAKE ALL THEIR FILMS BE IN ONE UNIVERSE. It isn't like Marvel where they don't have all the rights to put all their characters in one universe but at least they are succeeding with the characters they got. Warner Bros. has every DC character under their roof and they don't use them.

Its going to be on DVD by August just wait.

Really seems like WB knew how crappy the movie is and tried to get it in and out the cinemas without anyone noticing...

Anyone still wanna argue DC's movie making is better than Marvel's? Hahaha!
Here's how I see it. DC was making movies slowly. They had both Batman movies which are arguably the top 2 CBMs period. Other than that, not much, but nothing that bad. Marvel had quantity, but a lot of stuff in the bad-eh column. Let's say Ghost Rider is Marvel's worst. Now DC has pretty much released a Ghost Rider level movie by the sounds of it. The argument that DC has a higher standard of quality is pretty much gone. Meanwhile, Marvel movies are getting better in quality and they're building a cinematic universe.
I'm hoping things are going to get better for DC. Green Lantern seems great, Batman 3 is almost guaranteed amazing, and Superman is on the horizon. However I think everyone knows who is winning right now.
Animated movies are a completely different story though.

Jonah Hex has a limited audience to begin with and
then they make a cartoon out of the plot and story,

The movie was only an 80min run time, the studio knew nobody would stay for anther 10 mins....unless they showed Megan fox's boobs at the end of the credits...I'd sit around for that

Warner Brothers should change their name to Wanna Be's. They'll never get it because it's run by a bunch of execs who have never read anything but the Wallstreet Journal. I'm surprised that they had the success that they did with Batman. They need to hire someone from DC who can consult with writers on source material. Jonah Hex could have been an epic western with numerous sequels if they really cared. First and foremost, the cast was all wrong. Hugh Jackman should have been cast as Jonah (maybe their was a contractual problem with Marvel, I don't know, but Josh Brolin sucks.) Period. Second, the special effects. Why couldn't they have used the same team to make up the scars on Jonah's face that they used for Harvey Two Face in TDK? Another problem with westerns is they can't be done in a studio set. Nolan would have been good for this because he stays away from CGI for the most part. Third, the writing. This is where a Feige-like consultant comes in. Someone who can choose good storytellers who only tweak the source material. Not come up with some outlandish Wild Wild West 30 story giant mechanical spider?! It's just a shame. I envisioned another Josey Wales like tale and now it's gonna take about ten years before anyones gonna even mention a Jonah reboot and this could have been a very good franchise. "Friends and Unity" to the suits at the WB. My hope for a good Green Lantern movie just dropped several notches.

I wasted $10 buck on Jonah Hex and it was just bad. I so wanted it to be good as I like the Comics. Should have been locked in the WB vault never to be seen by anyone but people who buy it bootleg.

One looked awful from the very beginning and well, the other is Toy Story 3 so really, is anyone surprised?
