EDITORIAL: What DC Should Do With In Animated Television

What I think is DC's future in their new animated universe.

Green Lantern The Animated Series
I remember when we were all a little uneasy about the direction of this show.

Most said it looked too kiddish and wouldn't ever have a serious story and plot behind it. But that changed when people saw the pilot. Proving it can have very dramatic moments (They actually killed someone in the first episode and he was a good guy!) in the series right off the bat most loved it including me.

This takes us to the last episode which proves it's already one of DC's best animated shows. So what do they do now?

Young Justice
Young Justice is great. I think it could go on for perhaps another season. But after that I think they need to fill the void with some new shows about the main characters in the DC Universe.

Beware The Batman

I'm still slightly uneasy about this show. Still it looks promising in someways.

While some of the promo images looked strange, this teaser gives me hope.

Personally this teaser reminds me a lot of the first animated series. Very dark and interesting. Also the animation looks like it could go along with Green Lantern's so that could mean we could get a universe that could cross over.

Now that I have explained what I think will happen to the shows that have been airing/announced lets talk about shows DC should do.

Wonder Woman Show
I think they really need a Wonder Woman show. She is probably one of the best known superheroes and probably the best known woman superhero. She has pretty good rogues gallery to be explored and her show could have a completely different side of the DC Universe to explore. Plus it would probably get the female audience more into the genre.

Flash Show
This would be really interesting. Showing another side of the DC Universe not explored, Flash would look amazing done with the CG that all these shows would be using. Okay rogues gallery (some might need an update) and much like the Superman Animated Series they can always make new villains.

Superman Show
Did I mention Superman? Well why not... it's been several years now that Superman has got his own animated series and I think the Man of Steel would be perfectly suited for a new CG TV series.

Justice League Animated Film
I know, wait they're making a live action film now! Well, you know what? That's great. But they still need to do some animated films. I would base it on the TV series so that the characters were already established and would already have a built in fan base.

If this fan has already made some amazing concept art for a Justice League animated film what would the studio with a big budget be able to do? I mean it would WORK.

I predict if a film like this was made, it would easily surpass the box office numbers of Toy Story. Think about it. Kids would grow up watching these shows for a few years. A few years later a new animated film comes out with all of them in it. What kid isn't going to not want to watch that?

This is where I think DC can beat Marvel. Their characters seem to work perfectly in this medium and it would be a relatively safe bet for them.

It doesn't mean that they have to stop the live action films. It just means that we'll get more movies!

Interesting choice of them doing a animated film for theaters. Never thought of that. That would be awesome. 2 hours of JL would be nice in animated form. That is probably the best idea i have heard.

I kind of agree of them doing more animated stuff for heroes. They have some of the best studios doing animated stuff right now. It was kind sad that Bruce Timm said he do think movies outside of Batman and Supes people would like cause they dont have the great stories of the comics like Bats & Supes. IF he believes that then why not make original stories for them and make those stories well known cause we are getting tired of just Supes and Bats.

Young Justice should go on for more than just one more season. I think it is one of the best shows the DC has ever made and I love all the characters. Green LAntern is pretty good too I loved the villain Atrocitus and he is my candidate for the villain if they ever made another Green Lantern movie plus the guy who voices him is awesome on the show. You have some pretty good ideas but I don't qwant to be over saturated with cartoons.

"Young Justice" is good. The fact that they can still have the Justice League around and keep you interested in the kids is a well made show. Now if they would just get rid of the martians!
