If you’ve been keeping track of your JL news here, you will have heard me rant about my dislike for what is happening to this movie. It has also been brought to my attention that not everyone likes to hear my opinion, but, to be honest it doesn’t affect me that much. Because you see, I don’t write for Reuters, but I do report on a cult phenomenon that is driven by the fans.
So it comes as no surprise that the two confirmations for the JL movie have hardly thrilled anyone. Sarcasm tags were brought out by Stephanie Sanchez over at IESB, and Russ Fischer over at Chud could hardly keep the boredom out of his writing.
So, you want to know who has been dragged in front of the proverbial firing-squad?
For the role of Batman – arguably one of the greatest superheroes of history – Armie Hammer. He has only released movie to his credit, and one-shot appearances on Arrested Development, Veronica Mars and Desperate Housewives. Hardly what you would call a man – who looks like Elijah Wood with 5 years added – ready for the roll of Bruce Wayne.
My depression continues – despite being a fellow Aussie – when Megan Gale was confirmed as Wonder Woman. With a credit as “Dr. Orbit's Secretary” in Stealth under her belt, and a modeling career dating back eight years, she was the obvious choice! Right? Sure, she has the bust to fill out the fan favorite Wonder Woman bust, but, coming in at only 5’10”, I’m not quite sure she’s tall enough.
There’s your news, tainted yes with much sarcasm and distaste. Am I just trying to depress myself enough that the movie has to be good in my eyes? Just maybe, but that I’m waiting for the animated Justice League: New Frontier more than this live action flick, has to say something!
