We didn't post any April Fools articles here on CBM, but we have to give props to one online gag that managed to trick quite a few people into thinking it was legit... momentarily, at least.
Last night, a fake HBO Max Twitter account announced that the much-discussed "Snyder Cut" of Justice League would be available on the upcoming streaming service this May. The Tweet was accompanied by a fairly convincing (at first glance, anyway) fan-made poster featuring the members of the team from the theatrical version along with Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, and the villainous Darkseid.
On close inspection both the account and poster are obvious fakes, but they did cause a short surge in excitement among the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut faithful, who were very disappointed to learn that it was nothing more than an April Fools joke.
Fans expected some sort of official announcement regarding the Syder Cut last December, but that obviously never happened, and seems even less likely now with Hollywood in shut-down. Maybe we will hear something once things return to normal, but we wouldn't hold our breath.
