Now that we're seeing a DC cinematic universe, which began with Man of Steel, will expand with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, and take full form with Zack Snyder's Justice League, many of us have been wondering what that means for DC's burgeoning TV universe. We have Arrow on The CW, with The Flash arriving in the fall; along with Gotham over at Fox, and Constantine on NBC.
In a recent interview,
Arrow star Stephen Amell weighed in on his thoughts of crossing into the DC cinematic universe at some point, possibly in the
Justice League movie:
"You know what? I don't know. I think the people that watched the Flash pilot that have seen it and saw the scene where Grant and I interact -- and he's not even in his costume -- a lot of people were like, 'that feels like the Justice League.' And I thought it felt like the Justice League, too. I don't know if we'll eventually cross over into the movies but that being said, we don't need to. The important part is that Arrow and The Flash are able to stand on their own and be appreciated for what they are and the medium that they are in."
"If they wanted me to be in the Justice League movie and it worked out, that would certainly be something that I would be interested in. That being said, my most important and crucial priority is making [Arrow] Season Three better than Season Two."
As much as I would love to see Amell as Green Arrow in a
Justice League film, I'm glad that he's focusing solely on the TV show for now. Honestly, I doubt that the TV and film universes will crossover, and as he said, they don't really need to. It might be better for the fans if the two are allowed to co-exist separately, rather than either of them having their hands tied by what the other is doing (a la Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.)
