When Joss Whedon was tasked with rewriting and reshooting Justice League, the filmmaker brought a lot of his trademark humour to the table. Unfortunately, none of it was particularly funny. There were a lot of odd, out-of-place lines of dialogue, one of which was very nearly included in the "Snyder Cut" by mistake.
Talking on The Rough Cut Podcast (via Screen Rant), editors David Brenner ACE, Dody Dorn ACE, and Carlos Castillón revealed that Lois Lane's cringe-worthy "You smell good" line (which is said on Kent Farm shortly after Clark Kent's resurrection) was almost included in Zack Snyder's Justice League. How? Well, one of the mixers accidentally pulled ADR from Whedon's theatrical cut.
When Deborah Snyder was watching one of the final cuts of the movie, she thankfully spotted this and said, "[Lois] shouldn't be saying that! It doesn't matter how he smells!"
For those of you who don't remember the exchange, Lois tells Superman that he smells good and he responds with, "Did I not before?" However, in Snyder's version, she actually says "You spoke." That's not exactly a groundbreaking piece of dialogue, but it makes vastly more sense than The Daily Planet reporter telling the Man of Steel he smells good after months buried in a coffin.
That wasn't the worst bit of dialogue Whedon added to the scene, of course, as Clark even refuses to enter his Smallville home at one point because being dead was "itchy" and he doesn't want to be in another wooden box.
Based on what we've recently learned about the director's behaviour during these reshoots, we wouldn't be at all surprised if dialogue like this was included to humiliate certain actors.
