JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Says He Has No Plans To Helm More DCEU Films After His "Snyder Cut"

There's been some speculation that Zack Snyder may stick around after his director's cut of Justice League releases later this year, but the filmmaker says he has "no plan" to return to the DCEU...

The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement was clearly instrumental in getting Warner Bros. to pay attention to fan-demand and give Zack Snyder to opportunity to complete his original take on Justice League, and those same fans are now hoping that the recent #RestoreTheSnyderVerse social media campaign will have a similar impact.

There's been speculation that Snyder might return to the DCEU sandbox if his director's cut is a success, possibly helming a direct sequel or spinoff. Unfortunately for fans of the filmmaker, it doesn't sound like that's on the cards.

While speaking with ComicBookDebate, Snyder stated that there are currently no plans for him to make any more DC superhero movies... though he does suggest that he wouldn't be opposed to the idea down the line.

“Look, I never thought I’d be here doing this. I didn’t think I’d be finishing Justice League… The truth is, and it’s been widely reported, and I have no issue, this is an old movie. This is a years-old movie I’m working on. The DC universe has gone and branched off and done its own thing and that’s fine. As far as what I did and as far as what my vision for what I wanted to do with these characters and the journey I wanted them to go on, it’s well known that I planned on more movies — five movies or something — but I’m busy. I’ve got a lot going on.

Is it cool that the fans have so much faith in the trajectory? Yes, it’s amazing, and I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited for them to see Justice League so they can really drink the entire elixir of Justice League. But would I continue? I have no plan to. But like I said, I didn’t think I’d be here, so who knows?”

Of course, if the Snyder Cut is a massive success for HBO Max, there's every chance WB will approach the Army of the Dead director about carrying on their relationship. Even of that doesn't happen, Snyder has previously talked about continuing his Justice League story in comic book form.

Would you like to see the "Snyder Verse" restored and Zack Snyder become the driving force behind the DCEU again? Let us know in the comments.

@Feralwookiee -
It's like Hamada calling Fisher in to tell they won't be needing him for future films.

Fisher: I REFUSE to work with Hamada ever again. He is a liar and the worst kind of enabler!!

BY THE WAY, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SNYDER stole his ideas for BvS
see

from the internet

and the idea for WONDER WOMAN from this very website.

skip to p. 19, 20 p. 61 for proof. Scenes basically lifted in wonder woman movie and first use of Dr. Poison.
(No one will believe, but I know it as a fact) Zack Snyder is a fraud that steals ideas from fans.

This is WHERE HE GOT THE STORY FOR WONDER WOMAN 1 FROM. NO WAY the SNYDER's or Jenkins or any of the writers LACK OF KNOWLEDGE or imagination OF ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS CAME UP WITH USING DR. POISON IN WONDER WOMAN 1. The structure of the screenplay, and villains are the same and this script was online a full 2 years before the movie was announced.

He left it open now his followers will run with that. But I think this is the right thing to do, let him finish his vision and everyone goes their separate ways

Now let Shazam, Suicide Squad, Aquaman and Wonder Woman run their course and reboot eveything else.

Jeff Nichols would be the perfect director to reboot superman

@dracula - IIRC Numfar was played by Joss Whedon.

@JDL - yeah and it just makes the use of the clip in a Snyder article even better. He also made up the dance on the spot during filming.

So many people just want to attack him here, but it’s so crass and unwarranted to do so. What’s the point, and where is all the hatred (utter HATRED) coming from?
dracula
dracula - 1/4/2021, 7:49 PM
@MosquitoFarmer - mostly came from the 2 years of bitching from him, before that people were just happy to ignore him. He comes off as entitled when he doesn't own these characters and did not create them
Feralwookiee
Feralwookiee - 1/4/2021, 8:00 PM
@dracula - I would add that he doesn't UNDERSTAND these characters either.
MosquitoFarmer

@dracula - That's all well and good I guess. But you're also describing the very people on this site doing the very same thing down to a T, so it all becomes a moot point after awhile.

- There's enough of us who hate the abortion Snyder created in Supermnan Man Of Steel. A 5 arc movie for Superman just to become Superman. Either he's lying or an idiot.

Fortunately I know the answer. LYING.

He thought the guy in the last battle who snapped Zod's neck was SUPERMAN that's how he sees Superman. Basically a more boring Dr Manhatten.

@MosquitoFarmer - I say this as a Superman fan - what he's done to the character is unforgivable to me. Of course these are just films so when I say unforgivable, I'm not saying in the same terms as an actual thief, rapist or murderer being unforgivable. I mean it from a creative standpoint. Thats where my hate for him as a filmmaker stems from.
WruceBayne
WruceBayne - 1/4/2021, 9:37 PM
@MosquitoFarmer - I don’t understand the Snyder hate either. They don’t want him to do DC movies anymore and now he announced that he’s not doing them and they still find a reason to complain.

It sounds more like hes saying, "Who knows". But I like how they're making it sound like it's a sure thing that he's not. There gonna wait and see how Justice League does and I am more than sure that if it does big business then theyre gonna find a way to continue making these stories.

Snyder with his snyder cut bullshit and now Jenkins is shit talking WB over the medding with the first movie. What is with directors nowadays feeling entitled to do whatever they want with characters they did not creator or own. You do well with the first movie and they will give you more control in the sequel

Burton did it with Batman (depending who you ask may have been a good or bad thing)

Nolan did it with Batman

Raimi did it with Spider-Man

Jenkins did it with Wonder Woman (depending who you ask may have been a good or bad thing)

For the best honestly. Whether or not you like the Snyder cut he did deserve to get his vision out there. But just that, he shouldn't be back helming everything. From what we know about the situation he got royally [frick]ed and is now getting retribution. Which I'm happy for.

But no more Snyder verse, let DC do it's thing, and I'm saying that as someone who likes bvs and man of steel. DCs got interesting things in store. I hope anyways. And I can't wait to see where it goes, where as with Zack it definitely would have eventually gone a place we would not have been happy with.

@Mrcool210 - Deserves? Best most people can tell, he was fired with cause for not following simple directions and is lucky HBOmax is desperate enough to boost their numbers that they are dumping money into his failed vision.

@inkniron - the simple directions were make it like a marvel movie. Fired him, got Whedon and it backfired in the most glorious way in their faces.
inkniron
inkniron - 1/5/2021, 6:26 AM
@LameLuka - Well, making it like a Marvel movie wouldn't have been such a bad idea. Most people like most of those movies.

Hiring JW wouldn't have been such a bad thing if he got to start it from scratch. Instead, what he was tasked with is the equivalent trying to put a band aid on shotgun blast to the gut. It wasn't salvageable because of Sack's hubris.

I blame Christopher Nolan for this debacle. The shine has really started to come off on him for me after his last 2 movies and choosing Snyder for Man of Steel.
