It’s not news that Zack Snyder chose to step away as director from Justice League after a personal tragedy. Avengers director Joss Whedon was brought in early on by Warner Bros. to rewrite a few scenes and finish up the film for Snyder. While fans were thrilled at the prospect of a respected comic book movie director like Whedon helping bring the Justice League to the big screen the same way he did for Marvel’s The Avengers, things have now quickly changed after a series of tweets that Whedon has liked.
Before this year’s Comic-Con, rumors surfaced that Whedon has made some significant reshoots, which isn’t all that weird, considering the massive production behind Justice League. However, after early reactions appeared on social media about the jarring differences in the pacing between some scenes and the use of visual fx, it wasn’t too difficult to connect the dots.
Not only were the visual fx criticized, but so was the film’s villain, Steppenwolf. Critics and fans seem to agree that the Apokoliptian general was a bit lackluster, and apparently so does Joss Whedon.
Earlier today, Whedon liked several of a critic's tweets that harshly criticized the film’s villain, claiming that "Steppenwolf is the worst comic book movie villain of all time and not even Malekith the Accursed comes close." Of course, fans immediately saw Whedon's likes and were outraged, pointing out how Whedon has praised Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, yet has failed to make any mention of Justice League, the film he's been working on for the past few months.
It's fair to say that Whedon won't be garnering any love from the DC Film fans anytime soon. Let us know your thought about all of this in the usual place below!
