SPOILERS: Joss Whedon Is Reshooting JUSTICE LEAGUE's Ending To Remove A Huge Cliffhanger

Justice League was originally subtitled "Part One" and we now know why as a new report states that Joss Whedon's extensive reshoots include a new ending getting rid of the arrival of a certain villain.

When Warner Bros. announced their DC Films slate, Justice League Part One and Justice League Part Two were among them. The mixed response to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice brought a halt to plans to shoot them back to back but it appears as if Zack Snyder still planned on finishing the upcoming November release with a cliffhanger ending which would have set the stage for the sequel.

According to Slash Film, Justice League was supposed to end with Darkseid's arrival on Earth with the plan being for him to be the big bad in the follow-up. This was to be expected as Steppenwolf has always felt like a stepping stone to that iconic villain but that ending has now been totally scrapped.

Apparently, Wonder Woman star Robin Wright has been brought in for a flashback shedding more light on Steppenwolf's origin and the looming threat of Darkseid is being downplayed with the reshoots (presumably to keep the door open for a new villain to take centre stage in the sequel or to give Warner Bros. time to reassess where the franchise goes from here if Snyder doesn't make his return).

This seems like a shame but was probably to be expected, especially when Justice League reshoots have been described as "extensive." What do you guys think? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

I wouldn't mind leaving Darkseid for the next one as long as they give me more GL

@BigChinese - Rumours had it that a non human GL will turn up in the final battle.

@BigChinese - I'm cool with Darkseid appearing later in the series...just keep us teasing just like Thanos in the Mcu..

As long as we get to see him in the end or prologue...I can wait..

They should include a version of Darkseid in Flashpoint...this gonna be a JL movie just like Cap Civil War was an Avengers movie..

Or introduce Darkseid fully in a New Gods movie which would lead to a JL movie..

@Brainiac13 - I am totally cool to wait. It is a good idea to spend more time to set up than to actually put all the characters in a movie in one go, especially when Marvel set up almost 6 years for Thanos and it worked out pretty well so far.

@BigChinese - But this makes sense if the studio doesn't know who will be taking the reins at this point moving forward.

@BigChinese - "more GL"

I honestly feel bad for and fans who are actually hoping Green Lantern will show up in this movie.

It's very much unlike WB to put in a popular character like GL and not have him show up in any promotional material. If they're not doing Superman's black suit, they're definitely not putting in a Lantern.

@Brainiac13 - when Steppenwolf said no lanterns maybe batman researched what he meant and found a way to send a beacon to OA. Hell yea I want that, I want batman even speaking kryptonian.

@Supermandatory - Yeah, I don't know how accurate this is, but either way i'm glad. I think it's too early to introduce Darkseid. All the heroes should be fleshed out and established so that we can truly see the effect he has

I have no problem with that. I have not lost any faith in Justice League - hope it delivers.
