Okay time for real Lobo news...
Good old comic book friendly Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a very, very busy man. Having shot the thriller The Resident earlier this year, Dean Morgan moved immediately into production of the DC/Vertigo comic book adaptation The Losers, currently shooting in Puerto Rico. Now word comes from the actor himself that he will be taking a role in the upcoming remake of Red Dawn.
The currently-announced cast also includes Chris Hemsworth. Red Dawn is currently slated for a September 2010 release.
But, what the real comic book news is, is Jeffrey told SuperHeroHype.com of his desire to star in the Guy Ritchie's adaptation of the DC Comics Lobo!
"They're making 'Lobo' right now," offered JDM, "That would be cool. 'Lobo' would be very cool. I don't think that I'm as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke's body on my head, that would be just great."
"You're always looking for material that's kind of smart and fun and this seems to be where it is right now," says the actor in regards to his interest in so many comic book properties, "The studios are really gravitating towards it, more than I've ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now and I don't see that going away for at least the next couple of years."
Lobo has two major creative forces in common with The Losers in producers Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, a connection not at all lost on Dean Morgan.
JDM said, "I do have an in," he admits, "I'll be elbowing somebody soon."
LEEE777 - Well i have got to admit it would be sweet if he got the role, though now that the poll is over i can tell you all that i wanted Kevin Durand for the role of the Main Man, but i personally liked Morgan second, so this is excellent news! I wonder what Kevin Durand thinks on the subject? ; )
