It seems every time
Aliens director James Cameron opens his mouth these days he upsets somebody, whether it's giving his view on the validity of Wonder Woman as a strong female character or talking about the Marvel heavy cinematic landscape. Cameron got into hot water with the latter point recently when he said he was "
hoping we’ll start getting Avenger fatigue here pretty soon."
Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige already responded to the comment, pointing out that Cameron went on to say that he liked the movies which excited him. Now, MCU figurehead Robert Downey Jr has weighed in.
On
Jimmy Kimmel LIVE, a number of actors from the upcoming
Avengers: Infinity War appeared on the show, including Downey Jr and Zoe Saldana. At one point, conversation turned to Saldana's breakout role in
AVATAR and host Jimmy Kimmel took the opportunity to ask the group how they felt about Cameron's comments.
To which Downey Jr replied:
No, I can tell you that A) You’re misinformed, as usual. B) He was probably misquoted. C) I want to be in a Jim Cameron movie. And I think I just might have been. As a matter of fact, Pom and I are looking for a two-hander.
For the record, Robert Downey Jr has
not appeared in a film that James Cameron has either directed or produced but with his time at Marvel seemingly closing, and with his attention on new and varied projects including a
Dr. Dolittle reboot and a
Perry Mason project,
he may well star in one in the future.
