McFarlane Toys will release a figure this November of retired Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Hines Ward in a Gotham Rogues uniform. Ward, along with several other current Steeler players, will make cameos in The Dark Knight Rises. Ward was seen in the first trailer for The Dark Knight Rises as he ran towards the endzone as the field behind him crumbled.

From the USA Today article:

"They haven't told me whether when Hines does his spike and touchdown dance he falls into the pit. But at least on the trailer he's looking pretty good," McFarlane says with a laugh.

"If he dies in the movie, then you will have in your hand the last moment of him in his celluloid cameo appearance. This could be your Citizen Kane right here depending on how it goes down."

Ward played fourteen seasons with the Steelers before retiring this spring. He is a four time Pro Bowler, two time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl XL MVP, and the all-time Steeler's record-holder for receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Ward also won ABC's Dancing With The Stars in 2011.

I used to collect Starting Lineups when I was a kid. I would honestly compare this to Michael Jordan in a Space Jam jersey (sort of... I mean Hines Ward will only be on screen 2 minutes tops) but I just don't understand how McFarlane got the licensing rights to this team, I would have thought any properties licensed/ created in the film would only be released in figure form through Mattel (Movie Masters figures for example) If this were the case, why couldn't Mcfarlane's sculpters have made The Dark Knight figures!? Those would have been amazing. One thing I've always hated about figures is the different scales/ likenesses/ sculpting quality. I would have no problem paying more for a figure if they were all the same size/ scale/ quality. Imagine a Darth Vader, Batman, James Kirk,Iron Man figure all made by the same company where the universes could cross. Maybe the imagination I once had made these things not very important, or my OCD acting up.

@laughterman26 you gotta be kidding. There are several good Joker figures. There's even a Nurse Joker that some fan sells the mods for on eBay

McFarlane makes lots of sports figure toys. He also makes lots of comic figures toys. It stands to reason that he would make a sports figure toy who was in a comicbook movie. Why do people think this is so dumb?
