It looks like there is a casting call regarding a potential role in the upcoming Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, specifically a red-headed teenage girl, which could be Mary Jane Watson. More after the jump!

While the The Amazing Spider-Man is currently filming, there is a casting call for a female role in Marc Webb's upcoming reboot. We know that Emma Stone will play the lead role as Gwen Stacy but could Mary Jane Watson appear in the film also? SuperHeroHype has more info:

"SuperHeroHype has learned that a casting call has gone out for that very part under the film's secret title, "Fiona's Tale." The exact description calls for an, "actress to portray beautiful red-headed teenage girl for featured background...(18+ only)". Interested candidates are encouraged to apply at [email protected] ."

It should only be a cameo. They should do a kind of Brand New Day thing, but go even further by keeping Pete and MJ apart, altogether. Maybe we could even have a cross-pollination with Ghost Rider (also by Sony) by having Mephisto getting in the way of Pete and MJ. In cameo, of course, not as part of the plot.

At the end of the movie or after credits would be totally pointless. MJ went to highschool with Parker...meaning we will most likely see her at parker's highskool.

They wouldn't cast a nobody for Mary Jane. I would expect this to be a hint that she may appear in the sequel. Sort of like an easter egg, I would say. However, not a direct appearance, meanin' no role, lol. Extra.

Eh. All I know is that Emma Stone's not playing MJ and I shudder to think who Marc Webb has in mind. Talk about missing the boat. But if I had to choose, I'd say Shoshana Bush for MJ.

kinda a [frick] up getting emma stone my personal choice for mj as gwen, but is they pull this off right she will make a cameo and in the 2nd film they go to prom... and gewn dies at the hands of old pete after green gob tosses her, and mj is their to console him in the end of 2 and in 3 they start going out.
