George Lucas is among those who have seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi and it turns out that he enjoyed it! According to Connie Wethington, a representative for the Star Wars creator, he thought the latest instalment of the franchise was "beautifully made." She added that, "In speaking with director Rian Johnson after viewing was complimentary." So, Lucas clearly approves of the upcoming movie then!
While he came under fire for the prequels, Lucas' opinion still means an awful lot to Star Wars fans so it is really good to hear that he approves of Rian Johnson's work on the long-running franchise.
When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the plan was to follow an outline laid out by Lucas for a new trilogy but the decision was made not to do that and we've instead ended up with a very different series to what he probably envisioned. Whether that's a good or bad thing is hard to say but The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi have been critical hits so Kathleen Kennedy arguably made the right decision.
