Now that the first trailer has finally been released, Lucasfilm is pulling back the curtain on Solo: A Star Wars Story in a big way. The latest material to find its way online are the books which will start hitting stores from May onwards to tie into the movie in various ways. There will be companion novels, comic books, encyclopedias, "art of" collections, and more, all of which should be a must-buy for fans.

Regardless of whether or not you're interested in checking these out, though, they all provide a fresh look at Solo and the many characters who will make their respective presences felt in the spinoff.

From the lead characters to possible villains, creatures, spaceships, and Stormtroopers, there's a lot to talk about here and you just need to click below to check out the gallery in its entirety. Will these get you any more excited for Solo? That's hard to say but it's hard to escape the feeling that this movie could end up exceeding expectations despite the negativity which has surrounded the movie!

Lando looks like he just stepped off the set of Classic Trek. Which isn’t a bad look at all!

Han’s Falcon will be my number 1 pick being a 70’s kid. But I must say, Lando’s sleeker version is growing on me. I don’t mind the front section before (I’m guessing) Han made his modifications. I take it this is how it made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs?

I still feel Emilia Clarke will be the let down. I don’t feel she has a very good acting range from what I’ve seen of her. I haven’t seen Alden in anything so I can’t comment on him.

And like SuperDude above, I’m really liking those Last Shot covers.

Emilia looks fantastic as always. Hopefully she can make the Disney transition and join the MCU in some capacity in the future.

Why does this feel like a Made for TV kind of movie, maybe its just me.

The only things worth buying in this 'Nolo, a not so Star Wars story' will be the Astromech droids. Other than that, I just expect garbage from this Disney product/film.

I feel like I've been raging about movies so hard for like a solid year. Hard to get the hype train back on the track for any movie right now. Hopefully this will be a pleasant surprise. I don't even care if its boring, I just don't want to walk out of the theater wanting to snap my own neck.

@hartley07 - I should clarify that I went to Thor 3 hating that it would be a comedy, and I absolutely loved it. All the rest of 2017 I could live without.

@hartley07 - maybe it was a mistake to take Miller and Lord of directing this? Especially now that we know what a nutcase Kennedy is!

It didn't help that the trailer had the most [frick]ing cookie cutter movie dialogue ever.
