Jurassic World made quite the splash at the box office in 2015, grossing $1.6 billion worldwide. The film's success was so massive that a sequel was announced only ten days after the movie hit cinemas. Colin Trevorrow, the film's director and co-screenwriter, is set to return as the writer of the as-yet-unnamed sequel, and started work on a script in August. Speaking to E! Online at Sundance 2016, Bryce Dallas Howard, who portrays 'Claire" in Jurassic World, had this to say about her character in the sequel:
"Claire is a different person now. The person she is at the end of the [first] movie is not the person she was in the beginning. Her armor of sorts was that white, pristine outfit with heels in a very corporate environment and stuff, and the chick at the end – totally different. So yeah… it better not be heels.”
Moviegoers made many a joke at the expense of the preferred footwear of JW's female lead, especially when 'Claire' was sprinting in tall heels, followed by the park's resident Tyrannosaurus. But according to Howard, those heels have been ditched. In turn for what, exactly, we don't know.
Although the character of 'Claire' had a character arc in the first film, expect her to be in an entirely new place by the time the sequel rolls around.
Jurassic World 2 hits theaters on June 22, 2018.
