Charlie Day & Burn Gorman Will Return For PACIFIC RIM 2

Today, director Guillermo del Toro ("Hellboy") confirmed that Charlie Day ('Dr. Newton Geiszler') and Burn Gorman ('Dr. Hermann Gottlieb') will return for the Pacific Rim sequel. Day and Gorman played the co-heads of the K-Science Lab in the first film.

“Yes.  It’s quite a different movie from the first one in that, but I think that two of our main characters like in the first one are Burn and Charlie.  They are really, really – I mean, honestly, they are probably the guys I have the most fun writing along with Hannibal Chau (Ron Perlman) so just from a purely selfish drive, I like writing them.  I love writing for Charlie and Burn.  I mean, [Burn's] in Crimson Peak for that reason, because I love working with him."

As for the film itself, Guillermo del Toro says you can expect very different kaijus and robots. He also said the sequel will begin a few years after the conclusion of the first one. "It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat," del Toro told Collider.

Do you like the idea of starting off the sequel in a kaiju-free world?

PACIFIC RIM 2 Will Land In Theaters April 7, 2017

PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Now available on DVD & Blu-ray!

Charlie Day rocks. Pacific Rim doesn't. TDKR guy is I'm pretty sure Crispin Glover's slightly less creepy brother.

I hope Ron Perlman survived getting eaten. The Kaiju did swallow him whole, so it's possible he could be back. In my opinion the coolest thing about the movie was the universe. I'd enjoy seeing more of the black market universe.

On another note I wonder if Josh is going to be buying his tickets in advance?

Awesome, I loved them together.....in fact, I loved everybody. That movie was [frick]ing awesome; and if you ask me, it deserves the reputation's that Gunn's GOTG has (which I feel is underserving of such positivity).

The first film was fantastic, and was easily the most under-rated blockbuster of 2013. So glad another is being made, can't wait to get more of this world and more of these characters.

It wasn't a great movie at all, but I feel Pacific Rim was a better movie than TASM 1 and 2, for a few examples. Just my opinion, tho!

Dug the first one. Excited for the second one. Monster movies are making a comeback on the big screen - slowly anyways. I mean, I guess technically Asylum has been making monster movies steadily for several years, but who counts those?

These 2 guys were easily the best part of the movie though, so I'm glad they'll be back. Hopefully they replace Hunnam's character as the new leads, though I wouldn't mind if they brought Mako back.

Pacific Rim was awesome and was pure fun and adrenaline-more than I can say about a Micheal Bay movie now a days. I feel like people are saying it sucks, just so they can say they didn't like a Guillermo Del Toro movie.

Loved the first one and I will gladly see the next one. That movie was everything Michael Bay wishes he could do but only with 100 times the directing capability. For people constantly clamoring for Justice League Dark or the Cthullu movie does anyone think that maybe WB and any other studio interested in a Cthullu movie are just biting to make these movies? Or that maybe he has a passion for Pacific Rim and so he really wants to make the sequel the man has the right to follow his passion.

what I'd like to see..I'm sure it'll never happen even though they're both part of the same film production company..but I want to see a crossover of Pacific Rim and Godzilla..I think that would be freakin' awesome!!

Pacific Rim was the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater. It was like a ride at an amusement park that just keep going. The stimulation was just gratituous.

Dumbest waste of time I've seen at the theater in a LOOOONG while. Really can't believe it's getting a sequel, but then there's also the Resident Evil movies so I will just chalk it up to humanity's stupidity. I literally got everything I needed from the trailers. The actual movie was boring and I even like the entire cast. Soooo disappointed. DEL TORO PLEASE GIVE UP ON THIS POPCORN B.S. AND GET BACK TO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE!!! Pretty please??? lol

P.S. I really just want him to bring Swamp Thing to the big screen, done right.
