Sounds decent, but probably BS. Good write up, though.
Altair - 1/8/2012, 12:10 PM
Misspelled apocalyptic, in the last paragraph, by the way.
PaulRom - 1/8/2012, 12:18 PM
Sounds pretty cool overall. I prefer Inception as a stand alone film, but a sequel where the military uses Inception sounds interesting. But I don't like the idea of WB simply making a big franchise out of it, let alone possibly doing a sequel without Nolan directing.
Cool find though MM.
MovieMaster - 1/8/2012, 12:19 PM
@PaulRom- Neither do I, but all film corporations are greedy and WB will want to cash in on the success of the movie.
SmellofDuty - 1/8/2012, 4:53 PM
@MovieMaster: Great find bro! Inception is one of my all time favorites but if WB goes on this project without Nolan it will certainly be a travesty. Infact I'd probably murder them all myself.
MrReese - 1/8/2012, 5:20 PM
Nolan won't return n part 2 will b shit.shit part 2 isn't even needed!!

[frick] U HOLLYWOOD GET SOME [frick]IN ORIGINALITY U [frick]IN LAZY UNORIGINAL COCK SUCKING BASTARDS!!! :D
JDUKE25 - 1/8/2012, 5:36 PM
Yeah, gonna have to agree with everyone else, a sequel isn't needed at all.
jbak368 - 1/8/2012, 8:14 PM
A sequel seems pretty unnecessary. However, there rumors a while back about Nolan being interested in making an Inception video game, and that would be the tits.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 1/8/2012, 8:57 PM
Nope. Nolan wrote Inception a long time ago, and went on record saying there would be no sequels to that film. Plus a sequel wouldn't work and Nolan is too smart a film maker to try and make it. The person who e-mailed you is a liar and a fraud and I wouldn't listen to a word he has to say going forward.
Tajin88 - 1/9/2012, 4:02 AM
If it is about terrorists then bring it on real. It shouldnt be the middle-east, it should be the west, then it would be one big movie.
MovieMaster - 1/9/2012, 8:15 AM
Yes, a sequel isn't needed but read the article again. It said that if Nolan passes on it then WB will continue on the project. Basically, if this is true then Nolan doesn't seem to keen on this idea (as Ridiculous pointed out, he's said he doesn't want to do sequels) and will most likely pass on it. If it happens, there'll likely be a new writer and cast/crew, so it won't be a sequel at all really.
OptimusBurgundyMaximus - 1/9/2012, 1:59 PM
I think he has way to much Integrity as a film maker just to make a sequel for the sake of it making 100's of millions again

thats why TDKR took so long to come out

and if they make an Inception sequel without him their [frick]ing idiots
Canon108 - 1/9/2012, 7:03 PM
One thing I wish they would do in an Inception sequel (if there ever is one) is show flying in dreams. I remember having dreams where I could control what was happening and flying was such a strange feeling, but IMO it could be interesting to see what they can come up with on film...if it ever comes.
Joker11 - 1/9/2012, 10:00 PM
[frick] you WB! money grubbing bastards.
mikeslant - 1/10/2012, 1:02 AM
Obviously Nolan would have a far bigger budget and make a whole lot more out of it, but if the economy turning to civil war idea is true, it's reminiscent of a short indie film (made for 1/10th's of pennies to the dollar of Inception and you can tell of course lol) called "The Sound of Midnight" that came out recently.

Am I the only one who didn't like this movie?
jessepostal - 1/10/2012, 7:57 AM
@teabag I think we're about to get shunned for not liking a Nolan movie. You better throw up some boobs to distract the nolanites
MovieMaster - 1/10/2012, 11:10 AM
Damn I misread the email. Sorry folks. When the emailer wrote,

A supposed idea that Nolan is really keen on is a movie focusing on the current economical depression. It's far more interesting than that, civil wars break out in many countries as the money situation gets out of hand, causing people to fight over simple resources like food and water.

he means that that is ANOTHER idea for an Inception sequel, not an original project.
marvel72 - 1/10/2012, 11:10 AM
he'll have to up his game with the sequel,it will have to feature a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream.
MovieMaster - 1/11/2012, 4:09 AM
@marvel72- Lol
CraptainAmerica - 1/11/2012, 11:07 AM
It's an interesting concept for a movie. But one of the reasons Inception is brilliant is because it stands alone
antonio - 1/13/2012, 10:22 AM
NO!
zachshivey - 1/16/2012, 9:32 AM
Doubtful. He has to godfather man of steel first
Fogs - 1/16/2012, 11:01 AM
Hope that's BS.

Inception is one of these movies that simply doesn't need sequels, it's brilliant for that it is.

Unless of course we have a tremendously, excellent new idea as shocking as the ones that made the first one soo good.

I've been watching the Matrix trilogy again some time ago and I came to the conclusion Reloaded wasn't bad. It opened more plot spaces, but revolutions was a simple, generic robots vs man sci-fi movie. No revolutionary idea. I'd expect something like a matrix contingency (matrix within matrix), in which Neo would be the first "chosen" to transcend. The movie could even stop there, with Neo being the first person to wake up in this new reality, giving us the doubt if that was the real world or just another contingency.

OK, the matrix thing is because I don't want the same to happen to Inception.
Ceejay - 1/22/2012, 9:09 AM
It's not a franchise, its a movie that told its story and ended, leave it alone!
ManOfKrypton - 1/23/2012, 1:35 PM
I smell BS... No way would WB piss Nolan off by toying with his ideas, he's their cash cow... and the last thing they want to do is drive away their money maker.

Im sorry but this just sounds like a terrible idea, it almost makes me cry (not literally). What people dont understand is that "Inception" was not just a great movie because of the concept of dream sharing but because of the pseudo-spy thriller backdrop and the plot and previous history with the characters. Its not just an idea that can be super imposed over any plot, all of the Characters had REAL DEPTH to them. Doing a sequel without the main characters just seems like an injustice, you mind as well just make an entirely new franchise.

Considering alot of loose ends were tied and broken at the end of "Inception" it seems kind of pointless to make a sequel. It is a single minded film for lack of better words, its about a man struggling to come to terms with his reality and accepting what has happened as he goes deeper into his own self conscience. The end of that story is Cobb coming to terms with the fact that his wife is gone, and that he did all he could to save her. Going off into another tangent seems like it defeats the purpose in that respect, after all in the end its about Dom Cobb getting a grip with his reality , which he may or may not have done depending on how you look at the ending of the film.

Final point is, its a character driven story, not just a plot point for you to superimpose of any given story line. Inception without Dicaprio, Levitt, Ellen Page, or Tom Hardy mind as well be a Superman movie without Superman.... it just defeats the purpose.

I would love to see more Inception, ONLY if its done RIGHT. (I mean look at Prometheus?)

Sure, I thought Prometheus was cool, not GREAT, but entertaining enough, considering Ridley Scott helmed it and Fassbender played an awesome android, but I digress.

Anyway if I may reiterate other people's comments, if theres no Nolan and no excellent script/story/cast selection then I say HELL NO to WB...

I have some cool ideas myself...
Possible titles... Infection? Extraction? Deception?

and Guy Pearce reuniting with Nolan, and to star as main role.

and Story... how about a professional extractor who does corporate espionage and is also a psychological hitman or a mind-terrorist.
