Speaking to MTV, Zoe Saldana - who plays Uhura in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot and will reprise the role in the sequel - talks about her wanting Uhura and Zachary Quinto's Spock to 'get it on', saying that 'you want to see more of that love affair'. She also says that she wants to see Chris Pine's Kirk and John Cho's Sulu shirtless, as well as wanting Uhura to kick ass.

On the relationship between Spock and Uhura...
For some reason, I'm not like a mushy person, but I kind of want Spock and Uhura to get it on. Not in that sense, but you really want to see more of that love affair.

On what she'd want to see in the sequel...
Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) should definitely take off his shirt. Along with Sulu (John Cho). And I think Uhura should kick some ass.

Star Trek 2 hits theaters sometime in 2012/2013!

Uhura needs to return to he background so that the usual Kirk Spock and Bones relationship comes into play.

also the relationship between Spock and Uhura needs to end. they never had anything going it was Nurse(can't remember her name) that wanted Spock.

@l0rdleg0las Actually I disagree.. The direction they took where they showed that all the main bridge crew had something bad ass to offer, was a good move..

Also Spock and Uhura never had anything in the original series? I have to disagree with that also...

Also I want to add that even if they just had a flirtatious romance that never went anywhere in the original series, this is a new timeline, and their romance actually could have gone further in this timeline..

Damn she is a lovely lady. That's about the respectful way for me to say what's going through my mind. lol

@l0rdleg0las- Look...I used to watch TOS too...but the Spock/Uhura thing isn't that bad...it's a brand new timeline people let's not forget that. Oh and btw- her name was Nurse Chapel. But it seems like she might not exist in this new alternate timeline.

@LP4

i am not completely against the Spock Uhura hookup.

my main issue with it is that it inhibits or flat out ends the relationship of Kirk Spock and Bones which has always been one of the best aspects of Star Trek with a Kirk Spock and Uhura trio whhich just is nowhere near as fun or interesting.

also, Saldana was one of the weaker points of the main characters. Urban absolutely owned as Bones, and for that reason alone deserves more screen time in the sequel(s). yet if the Spock and Uhura relationship continues that won't happen.

and thank you for giving the name of Nurse Chapel that was bugging the hell out of me that i couldn't remember.

@patriautism

dude, the flirting between Uhura and Spock was so fleeting that nothing ever materialized from it and it was only actually present in like 2 episodes. if she boned Kirk in the movie i wouldn't have cared because there was the infamous first ever interracial kiss between the 2 in the original series and if she boned Scotty I would have been fine with that too because she ended up with him

so in summation. drop this weak ass love triangle and bring back the original holy trinity and return Uhura to background status

I really don't want Uhura to play a big part in this film, she wasn't very Uhura-ish. The Spock romance thing is so out of place. Focus more on Bones, Karl Urban played him brilliantly.

@LP4 @l0rdleg0las I myself am completelyy against the Spock Uhura relationship. I much preferred the Spock - Nurse Chapel one because it was fun and you could see that nothing was gonna happen.

Also I think nurse chapel was in the background at the sick bay but nothing more.

What I don't like is that Uhura has a more prominent role than bones in these films and Spock is very un-Vulcan (remember he wouldn't even give up command in TOS when his father needed a blood transfusion) I would very much like to see this relationship end.

@nuclearundergroundhog

i completely agree that Uhura needs to return to background character status and Spock needs to be more like Spock and less of an emo lovesick puppy.

i don't mind if the relationship continues, but i would much rather it if it does continue be put on the back burner and not as prominent as it was in the first movie.

i also agree, bring in some Nurse Chapel

and more of the trinity of Kirk Bones and Spock. Urban owned the role of Bones and should have more screen time in the sequeel(s). plus the relationship of Kirk Bones and Spock was always one of the best aspects from TOS

also, as much as i don't mind if the continue the relationship as long as it is not such an integral part of the story, i would much rather them end it and bring in Nurse Chapel, not as a love interest but in the way she was used in TOS as the one in love with Spock but him unable to return the feelings

the relationship thing to me isn't that big of a deal like LP4^^ said its a different timeline. what i do have a problem with is the fact that we have to wait 2yrs for the sequel.

@l0rdleg0las- Yeah man, I've always said on this site, the best portrayals were- Urban and Pegg.

Simon Pegg REALLY did a great job with Scotty. But Urban was the best one, he literally became DeForest which was great.

Horrible horrible casting choice.. badly written too... no respect left for the character... too bad Holly Robinson or Halley Berry are too old.
