RUMOR: Darth Vader To Return For New STAR WARS Movies?

Yes, the Dark Lord Of The Sith was most definitely dead as a doornail - and a frickin ghost to boot - at the end of Return Of The Jedi, but the latest rumor regarding the new Disnified Star Wars flicks is that the big guy will be making a comeback..

It's saltshaker time again, but the UK Express reckon "industry insiders" have told them that Disney plan to resurrect Vader for their new Star Wars trilogy. The site report that despite being very, very dead at the end of Return Of The Jedi, and even appearing to his son Luke Skywalker as a ghost, the ultimate movie villain will indeed be wheezing his way back to the big screen.

According to "a film mole"..

“He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible. The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films. This is science fiction remember, Darth Vader will rise from the ashes.”

Vader IS the most recognizable, iconic aspect of the Star Wars saga so I wouldn't have a hard time believing that the studio/film makers would be interested in bringing him back in some capacity, if it wasn't for how he checked out in Jedi. The above quotes do raise a good point though - what is really out of bounds in sci-fi/fantasy these days? Still, I'm gonna need more solid info before I'm convinced. What do you guys think? Whether this is on the level or not, would you like to see Vader return somehow?

IF it's true, i bet that it would be a "ghost" that talks to luke. otherwise, having it in blood and flesh and helmet, would be 100% nonsense.

Vader is an iconic villain, but no. Don't bring him back.

That would make his redemption at the end of ROTJ completely meaningless.

I would love to see it, and think they MIGHT be ways to do it that wouldn't seem to ridiculous..I just can't think of any right now off the top of my head!

Bring him back as Anakin Skywalker with white armor. like in Star Wars Infinities.

Please no, move on to the next generation of Skywalkers, Vader's story is over. Bringing him back will taint the ending of Jedi and make it pointless. Unless he comes back as Hayden Christiansen force ghost giving advice for Luke then I am 100% against this.

Only way this'd work is recasting, if that's the case Michael Wincott, he's no James Earle Jones but he's a talented actor n got a creepy n distinctive voice

As a ghost yes, as the bad guy no. It would defeat the purpose of his redemption in ROTJ.

The only way it will work, is if it's someone else behind the mask. It can't be Anakin.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Emperor come back in a cloned body in the expanded verse? They could do something like that with Vader.

uhhhhh, I hope they mine as Vader Ghost. If he comes back to life, Disney would have destroyed the franchise worse than Lucas did.

Are we dealing with clones of the Galactic Empire for this new trilogy?

he better not be the villain. theres so much sith that they can use. if they go with villain they're just using him as a cash cow.

vader should remain dead,i can't see how they can bring him back.

flashbacks to pass events might work.

I wonder if bringing back Darth Vader was in Lucas' outlines? Or is Disney forcing it in? Or both?

@rockerdude22 I believe so. I had a novel from a while back with the Emperor as a clone.

He fell to the dark-side, redeemed himself, and died.

Force Ghost...

I hate that particular alteration prob more than any other - Lucas goes back and super imposes Christianson over the original older actor that played Vader when he died..so Vader gets to be a young ghost but Obi Wan is stuck as an old git? Why is that George...you thick?

I don't know...It really could be cool if Darth Vader does somehow "return." Obviously Anakin Skywalker is dead, but...if someone rebuilt the armor, reunited the Empire's splintered forces, it could make for an awesome war of violence and a spiritual quest for Luke or his family to prove this is an imposter and it would be PERSONAL. Anakin Skywalker redeemed himself and someone is destroying that. That would be cruel...

Honestly, I think this is B.S., but if not, if done right it could make for some great drama...

And give a chance for the real Anakin to return in spirit form. Which could be interesting and cast more light on the mystery of the nether-world of the force.

I wasnt really excited for SW7 because there was no vader or yoda. Still not very excited, but this could go either way.

They could always go force ghost anikan, and full android vader. A vader with absolutely no emotion, bent on taking over or as a tool of an unknown force.
