UPDATE: J.J. Abrams Speaks On His “Wildly Surreal” STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Directorship
Addressing the hotly-announced news of his latest gig, furthermore, J.J. Abrams describes his forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VII directorship as “wildly surreal,” while also commenting on his plans.
Considering the hotly-anticipated installment's 2015, unspecified, release date and other inferior gigs J.J. Abrams has forthcoming, we shouldn't expect much, if anything, from the Star Trek Into Darkness director about his direction for Star Wars: Episode VII and beyond. However, that certainly won't refrain media outlets and fans from gushing over the big news in his presence. That was seemingly the case during the Producers Guild of America Awards.
“It really is an incredible thing,” Abrams recently told E! Online. “It's wildly surreal. It's obviously way too early to talk specifics,” Abrams said after being asked whether the original Star Wars cast will return. “But I'm excited to actually start it.” During the PGA Awards, J.J. Abrams was honored with the Norman Lear Achievement Award.
UPDATE: J.J. also spoke with the Huffington Post last night, when he added that, “I can just say what I want to do: I want to do the fans proud. I want to make sure the story is something that touches people. And we're just getting started. I'm very excited.”
J.J. Abrams will be directing Star Wars: Episode VII and Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay. J.J., his longtime producing partner Bryan Burk, and Bad Robot are on board to produce along with Kathleen Kennedy under the Disney | Lucasfilm banner. Also consulting on the project are Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg.
