TDKR's Anne Hathaway Set To Star In Giant Monster Movie, COLOSSAL

Timecrimes director Nacho Vigalondo is in the process of shopping his latest project at Cannes, and it sounds like it has the potential to be another brilliant oddity. The movie is called Colossal, and according to THR's description, it's about a despondent woman named Gloria who somehow conjures and then psychically controls a giant lizard (not Godzilla, apparently) that begins laying waste to Tokyo. "In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world."

Definitely sounds... interesting anyway. Plus, it's got Oscar winning actress Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar) on board in the lead role.

Vigalondo says this is his “most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one.” The movie is being financed by Voltage Pictures, and we'll keep you updated on its progress.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought this movie was based on a video game with the same title.

It's alrigjt, you really don't have to keep us updated on its progress. Or is this site changing its name to
DarkArrow19 - 5/12/2015, 8:10 AM
This sounds like it will probably get frozen in development hell
PapaEmeritus - 5/12/2015, 8:12 AM
@JoeMomma29, are you talking about Shadow of the Colossus? Great game...
DarthBastard - 5/12/2015, 8:13 AM
It's impossible to be Hale Barry Catwoman bad but she came so close, she was atrocious in TDKR.
VaCubFan - 5/12/2015, 8:13 AM
@egon.... She was in a comic book movie once... And read one in the checkout line that one time at Safeway... Plus, Cassidy is/knows El Maybe...

Hellboy6666 - 5/12/2015, 8:38 AM
That is one of the more unusual parings for a story idea I've heard in a while "Godzilla meets Lost in translation"
It's like.....The raid meets The Grand Budapest Hotel.
blackandyellow - 5/12/2015, 8:49 AM
Character name is Gloria? Please God let her last name be "Hole".
MisterSuperior - 5/12/2015, 8:50 AM
The girl gets so much hate. She was amazing in that Lip Sync Battle show.
Mysterion - 5/12/2015, 8:52 AM
"Godzilla meets Lost in Translation"....ummm okay.
AbhiShake - 5/12/2015, 8:53 AM
I love Hathaway but this doesn't sound interesting, too many monster movies are already happening.
campblood - 5/12/2015, 8:55 AM
More like Godzilla meets pokemon
MindQuad - 5/12/2015, 9:04 AM
I personally liked her TDKR and Interstellar. I will definitely check this out in this. She has done nothing but prove herself in action/dramas.
BigFoster - 5/12/2015, 9:06 AM
To avoid comparisons to Godzilla they should probably set the film anywhere other than Tokyo
GhostDog - 5/12/2015, 9:11 AM
Looooooooove Timecrimes!!!

"Godzilla meets Lost in Translation"…
So a more boring version of Godzilla? I hope Hathaway shows her chesticles.
They always make her movies better for me;)

MercwithMouth - 5/12/2015, 9:57 AM

Her chesticles were the main stars of Love and Other Drugs. Great movie, great boobs. And I thought she was a great Selina Kyle. Plus that ass in tight leather. Almost as good as Beckinsale in Underworld.
MindQuad - 5/12/2015, 9:58 AM
I would change the Tokyo setting for sure though. lol

"Plus that ass in tight leather. Almost as good as Beckinsale in Underworld."

"And I thought she was a great Selina Kyle."
Not as good as my girl Michelle Pfeiffer… She was the best Catwoman!

imkennypowers - 5/12/2015, 10:11 AM
I think we can all appreciate and enjoy this, @Gusto more than most.
XMenMarvelFan - 5/12/2015, 11:13 AM
I think Anne Hathaway is a spectacular actress, and she HANDS DOWN. Was the best part about Dark Knight Rises. I wish I could see her 'CatWoman' again on the big screen :/
Equivocal - 5/12/2015, 11:13 AM

second WORST "catwoman" in history of dc related movies
Raava - 5/12/2015, 11:19 AM
Would bang
maxx - 5/12/2015, 12:04 PM
Isn't 'Monsters' already kinda a 'Godzilla meets Lost in Translation'?
slickrickdesigns - 5/12/2015, 12:20 PM

Would be way more appealing and appalling if…
the entire movie takes place in her head and the last shot shows that she's actually in a "WHO OR" House trying to forget the Colossal Anal Wreckage that she was currently receiving. Kind of like Sucker Punch, but more ButtSex.

LEOSTRATOR - 5/12/2015, 12:46 PM
Booooooooooo, hate this lady. But not as much as I hate Emily Blunt, aghhhhhhh.
