Shazam! took everyone by surprise back in 2019, and while we won't see the sequel until 2023, a first look at Shazam! Fury of the Gods was shared during DC FanDome a little earlier today.
That cast is looking quite a bit more mature than when we last saw them, but the biggest surprise here comes in the form of some great shots of the sequel's villains played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu. They look like a very real threat to the Shazam Family, and that entire team is decked out in amazing new costumes that are a definite improvement on what we saw a couple of years ago.
Interestingly, we're also getting a bunch of mythological creatures in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, while the superheroes look set to travel to a lot of different mythological locations in the DCEU. It's said we'll be taken from Athens to Philadelphia to the Rock of Eternity to the Library of Eternity, and the Realm of the Gods (meaning this franchise is about to delve into magic in a significant way).
It's a shame that a trailer for this movie probably won't debut until Black Adam hits theaters next year, but Warner Bros. has done a great job of getting us excited about what's to come when we catch up with Billy Batson and company.
