Stan Lee Reacts To The Amazing Spider-Man's New Web-Shooters!

The creator of the webslinger, who Sony is giving the ol' reboot in The Amazing Spider-Man, Stan Lee shares his opinion on the new direction of mechanical Web-shooters!

Speaking with The Washington Post, Stan 'The Man" Lee, creator of various Marvel heroes including the latest to get a cinematic reboot - Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man- discusses the notable difference in the new Webslinger's web-shooters from Sam Raimi's trilogy.

"The one thing I liked about Peter's web-shooters was the fact that they made him more vulnerable,""At any crucial moment he could run out of web fluid and be forced to rely on his wits."

"The organic webs which Sam Raimi gave him -- and which Jim Cameron also would have given him had he directed the first Spidey film -- certainly worked beautifully in the movie, and perhaps allowed for better special effects than my idea of limited webbing might have done."

While have another cameo for "The Man" to look forward to, The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

Stan is indeed the man....yet we don't know if the webshooters act as a guide for organic web fluid

Well they didnt make him more vulnerable because he ran out of webbing even without the web shooters in the movie . ( how stupid was that )

i love web shooters! really the only problem that i have with The Amazing Spiderman is the costume, some of the casting but we'll have to wait and see how that turns out, and that sony is making it! cause spidey belongs in the MCU! nuff said! and even with the costume and casting depending on how it looks on film, i'd be all for it if it was in the MCU!

I enjoyed the organic web in the first three, but I'm glad that we're getting these in this one. They should be in his but, though.

Web shooters are gonna be interesting but how are they gonna explain how a kid in high school made them? If this was answered in earlier books pls tell me! Anyone! sorry for my ignorance...

I hate the idea of Spiderman generating his own webbing, mostly because it don't make any sense. If he was to gain that power from a spider he'd shoot webbing from his butt (gross I know). Also how would his body possibility be able to generate pounds and pounds of webs. Where the heck is it all coming from? He would be seriously dehydrated and suffering from some sort of vitamin deficiency.

i never like the web shooters cause this jr or so in high school made one a chemical that is super strong and disaprears after a short time, is stickier then any thing else in the marvel unvierse. And on thop of that he made a thing that shoot them with great accuracy and ability.

The web shooters is VERY important in the Spiderman legend. Raimi should have focused on that in the first set of movies instead of short cutting it.

Stan Lee will like whatever is the 'thing' of the moment. He never says anythinng negative, I think the man is not capable to go againt the grain on anything. He is happy to speak about anything as long as people are listening.

@hawk he has the power & KNOWLEDGE of a spider, he knows the chemical compound of web fluid because a spider does.. dumb ass, also your questioning his accuracy? But not his strength stamina or ability to stick to walls, well done you.

I've always enjoyed the web-shooter concept. Glad it's going to be in the movie.

<.< ... >.> ... No bear in sight? Hmmm...

Alright, i'll say it for him. THE SUIT SUCKS!!! [frick]ing garters...

And i prefer organic webbing in his veins. It's a preference, deal with it. Just like i'm dealing with getting webshooters & garters this time around. We can't always get what we want. Or else i'd be cuddling Vinno in a Vagine right about now.

I understand where Stan and fandom is coming from, but it's preposterous that the kid is smart enough to make these things and not make something else to copyright to sustain himself financially. Organic make sense. Everything else goes 'spidery' on him.
Shaman
Shaman - 2/16/2011, 12:21 PM
vinno- Right-O!

marvelguy- I concur. If he's so smart, he could invent ANYTHING and help the third world or cure cancer, etc. I get that he doesn't invent stuff for cash and he doesn't need to become stinkin' rich since it's not in him to do so. But if he's so smart, then his smarts become a super power of sorts and well... "with great power, comes great responsibility". However, if it's his daddy that invented it and all he did was be smart enough to follow his dad's journals to produce the shit, THEN it could make sense. I just can't prefer it over organic webbing as another super power he could logically have.

Stan likes everything! I've never seen where he said, "oh, that sucked" or "that's not the way I did it"
he's so grateful to even be involved with anything, very easy to please!

Hollywood writer: Hey Stan, let's make Spiderman more of a metaphor for a man feeling trapped in a web - no actual powers and he won't fight crime, but his own inner demons!!

Stan Lee: That's Great! Fantastic idea! Excelsior!!!

"it's preposterous that the kid is smart enough to make these "

its preposterous to think that some kid could just walk into a science lab and get bitten by none other than a radio active spider granting him super powers. how would you seriously explain peter shooting jizz out of his wrists? and how come nobody in movie ever noticed the white jizz sacks on peters wrists? although that suit is still making me vomit the addition of webshooters is a good foot forward
Fishandchips
Fishandchips - 2/16/2011, 12:48 PM
to add to intruder, why do you think he skips class to fight crime so much, because thats what he prefers doing. The kids a scientific genius there is no doubt about it but he prefers hitting people in the face and chasing woman. Its a matter of what he wants to do rather than his capabilities to do so.

@Intruder and everyone else . . . . . . . . [frick] IT! If nobody going to even try bashing the idea for Spider-Man having web shooters in the movie, I am even though I think it is awesome to include for this film.

HOW DA [frick] SOME TEENAGER IS ABLE TO MAKE SOME WEB SHOOTERS!? THIS MOVIE IS GONNA SUCK FOR THIS UNREALISTIC . . . oh wait, Shaman already the first to troll on this site.
Damn it, I wanted to be that jerk who makes the first negative comment on the page. :(
Aw well, can't wait to see this new Spidey movie.
